Attorney: Flynn intended to ‘audit’ US intel agencies prior to prosecution

Another shocking detail has emerged in the case of President Donald Trump’s one-time National Security adviser.

Breitbart reports that prior to the fateful FBI interview that ultimately led to his prosecution, Michael Flynn had plans to conduct an “audit” of the nation’s intelligence agencies.

This latest revelation was made by Sidney Powell, the attorney who has been representing Flynn in the most recent phases of his case, including his successful request to compel federal Judge Emmet Sullivan to dismiss the matter once and for all, despite his earlier refusal to do so.

Road to prosecution

Flynn was facing jail time after pleading guilty to lying to the FBI during an interview that took place in early 2017. But, after damning details about that meeting emerged, Attorney General William Barr and the Department of Justice (DOJ) decided to drop the case against the former Trump adviser.

One such detail was that the FBI, a few weeks before the interview was conducted, had decided to conclude its probe of Flynn over conversations he had with a Russian ambassador, having found no legitimate basis to proceed. However, disgraced former FBI agent Peter Strzok insisted that the investigation of Flynn continue, and it did, as Politico noted.

It was also revealed that FBI agents went into the interview with Flynn with the express purpose of getting him to lie so that he could either be prosecuted or fired, according to The Hill.

The agents ultimately succeeded in that mission, and it was upon these deceptions that the FBI built its case against Flynn, and he was ultimately indicted.

Powell drops bombshell

Powell’s disclosure that Flynn had been planning an audit of U.S. intelligence agencies — which obviously would have included the FBI — was made during an appearance on Fox Business Network’s Mornings with Maria last Thursday, according to Breitbart.

“Are there other things that have been declassified that the public needs to see to better understand this?” asked host Maria Bartiromo.

Powell first spoke about the Flynn “302” — the official record that would have summarized the FBI’s 2017 interview —  which has mysteriously gone missing, as Fox News has reported. She began:

There are things that we still don’t have like the original Flynn 302, the original FBI report. The FBI has not produced that. If Mr. Wray wants to improve anything, I think that would be the first place to start, and then the next draft of it too, because we know there were multiple alternations of it. But there’s no excuse for not having produced the first draft of the FBI 302.

Then, Powell dropped perhaps the most stunning accusation, saying “Flynn was going to audit the intel agencies that would have included some of the FBI’s work, as well. They were all absolutely terrified of an honest person getting in the job of national security advisor and finding out what they all done, in addition to all the other atrocities.”

If true, Powell’s claim further bolsters suspicions that in 2017 the FBI was running a politically motivated operation against Trump and that Flynn — who by all accounts is an honest and honorable man — was on the receiving end of some devastating collateral damage.
