Prime minister Boris Johnson is one of the most prominent world leaders to contract the coronavirus.
Now, after days of high fever and isolation, he’s been admitted to the hospital due to his worsening condition. Johnson is 55.
A conservative who has drawn comparisons to President Trump, Johnson is known for his energetic and at times unconventional style.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was taken to the hospital on Sunday, 10 days after he tested positive for the coronavirus.
“On the advice of his doctor, the Prime Minister has tonight been admitted to the hospital for tests,” a Downing Street spokesperson said in a statement. “This is a precautionary step, as the Prime Minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus.”
Despite the reassuring words, there is reason to be concerned for Johnson.
A slight but growing scientific consensus holds that the disease can turn more serious at the 7-10 day mark, and the infection and the body’s immune response settle deeper into the lungs.
Johnson was reported to be suffering from a cough and high fever for days, symptoms that indicate a more serious form of the disease than that suffered by other famous patients.
He’s also looked noticeably worn and tired in his public appearances by video.
