Author: Adam Schiff is weaponizing security agencies against Trump

As chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff is charged with maintaining oversight of America’s intelligence apparatus.

However, one author is now arguing that instead of keeping our security agencies in check, the California Democrat has been busy weaponizing them for partisan gain, according to the Washington Examiner.

Lee Smith is the author of The Plot Against the President: The True Story of How Congressman Devin Nunes Uncovered the Biggest Political Scandal in U.S. History, and according to him, Schiff has his sights trained on those in government who are unwilling to join him in targeting President Donald Trump.

Schiff attacks Grenell

As an example in support of his thesis, during a Thursday appearance on the podcast Examining Politics, Smith described in the manner in which Schiff is leveling “ad hominem attacks” on U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell.

Grenell has been appointed acting Director of National Intelligence, and he is regarded by many as a Trump loyalist who is on a mission to reform the intelligence community.

In Smith’s words, that has resulted in Grenell facing the “same, sick operation” to discredit and harm his reputation to which other Trump administration figures have been subjected, including former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

What’s more, Smith argued that the problems caused by Schiff’s partisan attack strategies will continue until the Department of Justice begins handing down criminal indictments.

Won’t stop without indictments

“It’s going to keep happening. It’s going to keep going on,” Smith predicted. “That’s what I said about impeachment. I very much respect the attorney general,” Smith went on. “I respect the man who’s supposed to be investigating — this John Durham.”

Durham is the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and he was appointed last spring by Attorney General Bill Barr to look for potential wrongdoing in the Trump–Russia collusion probe and the events that led to its commencement. Last October, it was reported by Fox News that his inquiry had morphed into a criminal investigation.

“But,” Smith cautioned, “the reality is that [Schiff and the Democrats are] two steps ahead. While there are no indictments, while there are no arrests, they’re going to continue doing this.

Not one to ever let a crisis go to waste, Schiff is pushing for a 9/11 Commission-style review of the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, according to The Hill.

“The commission will examine U.S. government preparedness in advance of this pandemic, the Federal government’s response to it, and provide recommendations to improve our ability to respond to and recover from future outbreaks, epidemics, and pandemics,”  Schiff declared in a statement last Friday. The move drew immediate criticism from members of the GOP, including Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) who declared Schiff’s plan “another dumb stunt,” according to Fox News.
