Graham blasts Pelosi’s ‘disgusting’ critique of Trump coronavirus response

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s comments blaming President Donald Trump for American deaths from coronavirus “the most shameful, disgusting statement by any politician in modern history” The Hill reports.

During an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, Pelosi said of Trump, “His denial at the beginning [of the coronavirus outbreak] was deadly,” and as he “fiddles, people are dying.”

“Let me tell you, we’ve seen the best of America from our citizens helping each other, delivering groceries, having special shopping hours for senior citizens. She’s the first politician to blame another politician for people dying,” Graham said in response to Pelosi’s remarks.

Graham fires back

Graham went on to criticize Pelosi for delaying the coronavirus relief bill in order to force the inclusion of elements of the Green New Deal and other Democrat pork projects.

“She is the one that held up the package in the Senate for days to get the Green New Deal put in a recovery package. So it’s the most shameful, disgusting thing I’ve heard yet. And it needs to stop,” Graham said, according to the Washington Examiner.

In the end, Pelosi did support the $2.2 trillion Senate version of the bill following some minor changes, such as the requirement that there be an administrator tapped to oversee a $500 billion fund designed to help businesses affected by the outbreak.

The speaker has also suggested that an even bigger aid bill may be coming in the near future, something that would potentially afford her and House Democrats another chance to cram otherwise impossible-to-pass liberal priorities down Americans’ throats and hold the rest of the government hostage in order to do it.

So far, Republicans have downplayed the need for another aid package, Politico reported.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) suggested that these stimulus measures should be given sufficient time to work the way they were intended before any further proposals are considered.

Trump: Pelosi a “sick puppy”

For his part, Trump responded in typical fashion to Pelosi’s criticism on Monday during a call-in appearance on Fox & Friends.

“It’s a sad thing,” Trump said of Pelosi’s incendiary remarks.

“She’s a sick puppy in my opinion. She’s got a lot of problems,” the president concluded.
