The Hill is reporting that conservative television personality Trish Regan is no longer employed by Fox Business.
Her departure came just weeks after she accused Democrats of exploiting the coronavirus crisis as a way to unfairly target President Donald Trump.
Democrats “don’t care who they hurt”
“The chorus of hate being leveled at the President is nearing a crescendo as Democrats blame him, and only him, for a virus that originated halfway around the world,” Regan said on her show earlier in March. “This is yet another attempt to impeach the president.”
“They don’t care who they hurt,” she went on. “Whether it be their need to create mass hysteria to encourage a market sell-off, unlike anything we have seen recently or to be to create mass hysteria to stop our economy dead in its tracks.”
In a statement provided to The Hill, Fox Business stated, “Fox Business has parted ways with Trish Regan — We thank her for her contributions to the network over the years and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.”
“We will continue our reduced live primetime schedule for the foreseeable future in an effort to allocate staff resources to continuous breaking news coverage on the Coronavirus crisis,” it continued.
Fox reduces staff due to coronavirus
The network announced on March 14 that in light of the coronavirus pandemic, Regan’s prime time show would be put “on hiatus” as part of an effort to focus “all resources from both shows for staffing needs during critical market hours.”
Regan wasn’t alone in having her program put on hold. Fellow Fox Business host Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery has been missing from her 9 p.m. slot as well. However, Kennedy is only out temporarily — she tweeted Saturday that she has been out sick but hopes to “return this week.”
Regan announced that she intends to spend some time with family after leaving the network. “I have enjoyed my time at FOX and now intend to focus on my family during these troubled times,” The Hill quoted Regan as saying in a statement of her own.
“I am grateful to my incredible team at FOX Business and for the many opportunities the network has provided me,” she said of her time with the network. “I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my career.”
Prior to her time at Fox Business, Regan worked for Bloomberg Television, CNBC, and CBS. In 2007, she was nominated for an Emmy for her CBS documentary on Islamic terror groups operating in South America.
Four years later, she published a book about the drug business titled “Joint Ventures: Inside America’s Almost Legal Marijuana Industry.”
