Actor Mark Hamill apparently thinks Luke Skywalker’s force powers might work on the weak minds of the Democrat 2020 presidential contenders.
The “Star Wars” star tweeted on Wednesday that he hoped the nominee will bring former First Lady Michelle Obama back into national politics as their running mate for 2020.

In other words, maybe Obama can save the Democratic Party from the disaster that will be a Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) candidacy. Or, God forbid, former Vice President Joe Biden manages to pull it out and somehow get on top of the pack with his apparent sundowning dementia.
Most admired woman
Whichever candidate becomes the nominee, Hamill seems to be saying, they will need someone that most people actually like on the ticket. Cue Michelle Obama, Gallup’s Most Admired Woman in America for two years running.
There’s no doubt that Michelle Obama as a vice-presidential candidate would bring a shot of fresh energy to any of the Democrat candidates.
Joe Biden even tried to capitalize on her popularity by saying he would want her as a VP on his ticket, even though neither Obama has ever endorsed his candidacy. And after his dismal primaries so far, I don’t think that’s going to happen now.
It’s probably not a good idea to pin Democrat hopes for victory in November on Obama. If she were going to get into this race, I think she would have done it before Iowa — and not as a VP candidate.
Obama not running
Obama has said repeatedly over the last few years that she wasn’t interested in running for president. The Boston Globe’s Renee Graham repeated that litany in an op-ed Thursday, telling Hamill to “get over” Obama’s lack of interest in re-entering politics.
She’s got millions of dollars in book deals, Netflix deals, you name it. She’s as much of a celebrity at this point as Hamill is.
What she’s missing, however, is the altruism — and maybe the ego — of the current president, who has said that he probably lost billions of dollars by taking the job.
Let’s be honest: it’s not about protecting her kids from the political “woodchipper” or any of that nonsense.
She’s living the good life now with none of the stress that being in high political office would bring — and that’s exactly how she wants to keep it.
