Trump accuses Pelosi of ‘nervous fit’ after she explodes on reporter at press conference

In 2018, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) became House Speaker for the second time. Some believed that she would cast an intimidating figure, among them being her daughter. “She’ll cut your head off,” Alexandra Pelosi told CNN.

Judging from his tweets, President Donald Trump doesn’t seem to agree. “Nancy Pelosi just had a nervous fit,” Trump tweeted on Thursday.

“She hates that we will soon have 182 great new judges and sooo much more. Stock Market and employment records. She says she ‘prays for the President.’ I don’t believe her, not even close. Help the homeless in your district Nancy. USMCA?” Trump added.

Pelosi explodes over “hate” question

Trump’s comments came after an emotional press conference in which Pelosi let loose on a reporter who asked as she was leaving the room whether Democrats were motivated by “hate” for the president.

“I don’t hate anybody,” Pelosi snapped back at him. “I was raised in a Catholic house, we don’t hate anybody — not anybody in the world. So don’t you accuse me of any [hate].” The speaker then returned to the podium where she continued to address the man.

“As a Catholic, I resent your using the word ‘hate’ in a sentence that addresses me,” Pelosi said. “I don’t hate anyone. I pray for the president all the time. So, don’t mess with me when it comes to words like that.”

Pelosi’s Catholicism

CNN’s Jake Tapper later asked Pelosi “why that seemed to elicit such a strong response from you?” After questioning whether the man — longtime respected reporter James Rosen — was a legitimate journalist, she again leaned on her Catholicism.

“I was raised a Catholic,” she reiterated, “my college roommate, Rita Meyer, my college classmate, Mary — they are here with me. We were raised — and my dear husband, Paul, and Demi (ph), our friend, Susan, we were raised in the Catholic faith. And the word hate a person was just — that just doesn’t happen.  You know, the word ‘hate’ is a terrible word.”

“But you might reserve it for vanilla ice cream or something like that, but not — I’m a chocoholic — but not for a person.  And it is — so for him to say that was really disgusting to me.  And of course, he was quoting somebody else.”

This is far from the first time that Pelosi has spoken of spiritual matters: in 2013, she said that her support for abortion was “sacred ground.”

Trump: Let’s “do it now, fast” so America can move on

For his part, President Trump appeared unmoved, tweeting, “The Do Nothing Democrats had a historically bad day yesterday in the House. They have no Impeachment case and are demeaning our Country.”

“But nothing matters to them, they have gone crazy,” he went on. “Therefore I say, if you are going to impeach me, do it now, fast, so we can have a fair trial in the Senate, and so that our Country can get back to business. We will have Schiff, the Bidens, Pelosi and many more testify, and will reveal, for the first time, how corrupt our system really is.”
