Sean Hannity dares Jimmy Kimmel to restart feud — and Megyn Kelly jumps in too

Fox News star Sean Hannity revived an old spat over First Lady Melania Trump with late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday, daring the anti-Trump comedian to “start up again.”

On Friday, an unexpected figure jumped in on Hannity’s side — a former Fox colleague, Megyn Kelly.

“Snarky” professor mentions Barron Trump

Hannity and Kimmel had an earlier feud back in 2018 over comments that Kimmel made about First Lady Melania Trump. This time, the focus was President Donald Trump’s youngest son.

Earlier in the week, congressional impeachment witness Pamela Karlan made a point about the limitations of presidential power, declaring, “The Constitution doesn’t allow titles of nobility. The president can name his son Barron, but he can’t make him a baron.” A law professor at Stanford, Karlan once described herself as “snarky” during a 2006 speech to the left-wing American Constitution Society.

The comment about Barron brought a stern rebuke from the first lady, who tweeted, “A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it.”

It also brought a warning from Hannity for Kimmel to stay off Melania. “We had a big fight that I won and I dare him to start it up again. Jimmy, start it, one more time,” Hannity said on Thursday night’s episode of his Fox News show. “I have a lot to bring out. I was just ready on the verge of unloading it all.”

“My offer stands, Jimmy Kimmel,” he continued. “I dare you, start up again. I will unload like you’ve never seen. I’ve got it all racked up and ready to go.”

Megyn Kelly brings up Kimmel’s black-face antics

After this, Hannity’s one-time network co-star Megyn Kelly got involved. “America’s late night darling Jimmy Kimmel? Who every Hollywood star cozies up to? The very same stars who then lecture the rest of us on woke culture?” Kelly tweeted, linking to a Mediaite report on Hannity’s comments.

“Whatever could he have done?” she asked, adding a link to old footage of Kimmel performing a black-face sketch in which he mocked African American athletes. Hannity brought attention to the same clip during last years feud with Kimmel.

Some may find it surprising that Kelly would side with Hannity. After all, Hannity is one of Trump’s biggest defenders, while Kelly has had a history of conflict with the president. But Kelly and Kimmel also have a history of verbal jabs — in 2018, Kelly commented on the low ratings for the Oscars, hosted by Kimmel.

“I know a lot of people love Jimmy, but he’s openly said he has disdain for Republicans, that they’re stupid, and he doesn’t want them watching his shows if they disagree with any of his opinions. That does not tend to help your ratings,” she said while hosting NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today.” Kelly was dumped by NBC later in 2018 for comments about blackface in Halloween costumes.
