After saying that Republicans would get a fair chance to participate in the House impeachment hearings against President Donald Trump, Adam Schiff just got busted.
Republicans publically called Schiff out for not allowing their questions during the deposition of witness Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman. The witness reportedly said he was “concerned” about Trump’s Ukraine phone call, to which he was a firsthand witness.
Double standard
“Chairman Schiff has prevented the witness from answering certain questions we had during the deposition,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) complained to reporters.
“When we asked [Vindman] who he spoke to after important events in July,” Jordan recalled. “Adam Schiff said, ‘No, no, no, we’re not going to let him answer that question.'”
Adding to Jordan’s frustration was his claim that “at the start of every one of these depositions,” Schiff says the information “is not classified.”
House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) wasn’t impressed either. He accused Schiff of operating on a double standard.
“Even his claim now that [the process is fair because] Republicans can ask questions has been undermined because he is now directing witnesses not to answer questions that he doesn’t want the witness to answer,” said Scalise, according to Breitbart. “He has not cut off one Democrat. He has not interrupted one Democrat.”
“Rotten to the core”
Scalise went on to compare the proceedings to what one would expect from the Soviet justice system.
“That reeks, and by the way, if you want to talk about a Soviet-style process, again, that might be what they do in the Soviet Union. Not in the United States of America,” he declared. Watch:

Scalise went on to call the setup “rotten to the core” while asserting, “We’ve been highly critical of the fact that it completely denies due process to Republican members of Congress as well as to the White House.”
Jordan also pushed back on accusations that Republican members were attempting to expose the Ukraine whistleblower’s identity.
“We are just trying to get information that we are entitled to get, and the witness is supposed to answer our questions,” Jordan asserted.
