Video shows violent gang attack in Ilhan Omar’s congressional district

An obscene video has emerged of a man being viciously attacked by gang members in Democrat Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s district.

Police have arrested over a dozen suspects in the brutal attack and robbery of a solitary victim in downtown Minneapolis that occurred on Aug. 3. Video of the assault has made the rounds of social media, according to the Daily Wire, highlighting an issue often ignored by the mainstream media that is too busy lionizing Omar: the rise of violent crime in Minneapolis.

The shocking video shows a dozen or so men savagely beating and robbing a man outside Target Field. The assailants sucker-punch the man and throw him to the ground before proceeding to jump on his body, with a running start, as he lays helplessly.

The men then tear off his pants and shoes and loot his pockets. The victim struggles to fight back, but the gang of men continue pummeling him with punches and kicks. At one point, one of the assailants runs over the victim with a bicycle.

Violent attack in Omar’s hometown

According to Minneapolis Police spokesperson John Elder, the attack was just one in a series of incidents perpetrated by a crime ring behind a spree of robberies — often targeting victims’ smartphones — in downtown Minneapolis. Authorities arrested 16 people between the ages of 13 and 25 after a three-day sweep two weeks ago.

Police said that the suspects targeted victims mostly between Hennepin, 1st, and 2nd Avenues, between 3rd and 6th Streets, after 10 p.m. But at least some of the attacks — including the Target Field incident — occurred in broad daylight, according to graphic videos like the one shown below.

(Editor’s note: The following video may be disturbing to some viewers.)

After an investigation, Minneapolis police made their first arrest: Boris Likuwa Lusumbo, 20, who now faces up to 20 years in prison for first-degree aggravated robbery, according to KSTP. The more than a dozen other suspects were mostly male, and about half were juveniles. Their bail has been set at over $100,000.

A disturbing pattern

The robbery follows a pattern, documented in other gruesome videos, according to Fox News. Police said that the crime ring of mostly young men — but sometimes including women — would approach people to ask for a cigarette or with some other pretext, and then proceed to rob them and beat them unconscious, then sell their phones to kiosks.

Police spokesman Elder said that robberies have surged 46% since 2018 in downtown Minneapolis, and there were 47 cell phone robberies in a three-week period in August alone. The rash of downtown robberies has reportedly sparked a debate in the city’s government about whether to fix a staffing shortage in policing by hiring 14 additional cops.

For their part, police have responded to the recent surge in crime by posting more officers downtown, and they say robbery rates have dipped since the arrests, according to a local CBS affiliate.

Meanwhile, as Omar — who has been criticized for alleged tax, campaign finance, and marriage fraud — continues to feud with the president, bash the very country she was elected to serve, and allegedly cheat on her husband, authorities in her home district have continued to struggle with gang violence.

But Omar doesn’t seem concerned. The Democrat has responded to her numerous scandals generally by ignoring them or accusing her critics of bigotry, and she has yet to make a statement on the disturbing videos of violence in her district. What gives?
