One Hollywood actress–turned–activist has a plan to “fix” our country — including its political divisiveness.
According to Fox News, Alyssa Milano argued last week that all the Democrat 2020 hopefuls should band together to take on President Donald Trump. This “dream team,” as she calls it, would even include former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Idealism at its finest
The movie star released her vision to the world in an op-ed that she wrote for The Hill.
“If we want to get rid of Trump and his administration, we should not focus on electing one candidate,” she wrote. “We should elect them all.”
At the head of Milano’s “dream” administration would be crowd favorite Joe Biden, with Sen. Kamala Harris (CA) as vice president.
“Imagine this,” Milano wrote, “Vice President Biden is currently leading the field, so let’s start there. With Biden at the top and a Harris vice presidency, we would speak to the majority of Americans who prefer Biden to any other candidate.”
The rest of the cast
From there, Milano put other popular 2020 candidates into various roles.
“Attorney General Cory Booker could take on the [National Rifle Association] and the racial injustices he so often faced as mayor of Newark,” she suggested. “Elizabeth Warren could lead the Department of Education and it would transform our nation for generations. Bernie Sanders playing the role as Secretary of Health and Human Services would ensure every person in America could access health care we could afford.”
Finally, Milano made an argument for a debate stage outsider: Michelle Obama.
“How could Michelle Obama say no to the critical role of Secretary of State if this unified group asked her to serve?” she wrote. “Our reputation and luster around the globe would be instantly restored.”
Unicorns, pots of gold, and the like
In her op-ed, Milano put her finger on one of the major problems with a plan like hers: the oversized egos of the Democratic candidates. But she seems to believe that this could be resolved by simply putting them “aside.”
“If they let go of their own egos and band together to fight Trump; spoke in unison about the Democratic vision for America; and refused to succumb to the conflict narratives media outlets are all too ready to encourage,” she suggested, “they would be unstoppable.”
