Sean Hannity invites Ocasio-Cortez on his show

Sean Hannity just stunned his viewers by issuing an invitation to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to have a discussion about politics on his nightly show. “I’m going to extend tonight an offer to Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” Hannity said Thursday. “I know she watches. She’s on Twitter. She tweets about the show. I want to give you an hour invitation on this show to have a discussion.”

The offer comes as Ocasio-Cortez’s feud with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has turned ugly. Her most recent criticism of the senior stateswoman reportedly has Democrats at the boiling point with the “fraud” progressive, Fox reported.

Hannity acknowledged that he has often criticized Ocasio-Cortez on his show. The progressive firebrand has become a favorite target in conservative media over her outlandish statements and radical policy proposals, which Hannity described as “downright scary” before her midterm election victory.

“You get a lot of criticism on this program. We’ll talk, we’ll have a conversation. Hope you’ll join us,” Hannity said. He also invited AOC to appear on his nationally syndicated radio show for a three-hour talk.

It’s almost certain that Ocasio-Cortez will not take up the offer: while AOC has appeared on MSNBC and CNN, she has never appeared on Fox, the Hill reported. And AOC wouldn’t be wrong to see Hannity’s offer as facetious.

Earlier on his show, Hannity seemed to cheer the intra-party feud that erupted between Ocasio-Cortez and Pelosi this week. “Why am I thinking that if I’m Donald Trump, I’m a happy guy tonight?” Hannity asked Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who said that the Democrat divide is an advantage to President Donald Trump.

Playing the race card

Pelosi snubbed the influence of Ocasio-Cortez and her self-described “squad,” which includes Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), after the four members voted against a Democrat-backed border funding bill last month. “All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” Pelosi told New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd in an interview last weekend. “But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”

In return, Ocasio-Cortez accused Pelosi of “singling out” “newly elected women of color” on Wednesday, dramatically raising the stakes in their feud, which reflects the growing rift between centrist and far-left Democrats.

While progressives have backed Ocasio-Cortez before, the insinuation that the Democrat veteran Pelosi is racist was a bridge too far for most. Censure rained upon AOC from many Democrats, who said that Ocasio-Cortez had disrespected Pelosi and hurt party unity in the process. Missouri Rep. William Lacy Clay (D) went further than most, accusing Ocasio-Cortez of playing “the race card” to attack Pelosi.

Meanwhile, anonymous Democratic aides whispered to the press that the Democratic party is getting tired of Ocasio-Cortez, with one source calling her a “complete fraud.” The source backed up Pelosi’s assertion that AOC has virtually “no power,” despite her massive social media following. “Her peers do not take her seriously,” the aide told Fox, adding: “They think it is absurd to call the speaker racist. Offensive and absurd.”

Even President Trump defended his Democrat nemesis, saying it was a “disgrace” for progressives to call Pelosi a racist.
