Obama’s Own DHS Sec. Warns 2020 Dem. Candidates Will Dissolve The Border And Bring CATASTROPHIC RUIN To The Country
After the first series of Democratic presidential debates were over last week, one thing was made crystal clear: Nearly every candidate on stage supported open borders, even though they didn’t expressly say it in those exact words.
In the past, Democrats and their enablers in the MSM have been quick to deny that’s their position, but President Obama’s DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson called it out for what it was in an interview he did recently with the Washington Post (note: the story is behind a paywall).
Fox News reports:
An Obama-era Department of Homeland Security chief is warning Democratic presidential candidates to cool their push to decriminalize illegal border crossings, saying such a move would be tantamount to “open borders” policy and lead to hundreds of thousands more people flooding into the U.S. every month.
“That is tantamount to declaring publicly that we have open borders,” Jeh Johnson told The Washington Post.
“That is unworkable, unwise and does not have the support of a majority of American people or the Congress, and if we had such a policy, instead of 100,000 apprehensions a month, it will be multiples of that,” he said.
Johnson, a Democrat, was the head of the Dept. of Homeland Security from Dec. 2013 to the end of Obama’s last term.
Back in April, when Democrats were still denying their was a crisis at the border, Johnson disagreed and said there most definitely was:
“By anyone’s definition, by any measure, right now we have a crisis at our southern border,” former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said on “Cavuto LIVE” on Saturday, citing recent stats that “there were 4,000 apprehensions in one day alone this past week, and we’re on pace for 100,000 apprehensions on our southern border this month.”
“That is by far a greater number than anything I saw on my watch in my three years as secretary of Homeland Security,” he said.
Johnson’s assessment of the Democratic candidates and their position on illegal immigration comes on the heels of assertions recently made by a number of Republicans such as Sen. Tom Cotton (AR), Sen. Ted Cruz (TX), and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (TX) that open borders was the ultimate goal of the Democratic party.
