Nancy Pelosi: Republicans should support Planned Parenthood if they support ‘family plannning’

Nancy Pelosi said that Americans who oppose abortion should “love” organizations like Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the United States.

The California Democrat made the absurd argument at a health care panel on Monday, saying that Republicans ought to support “family planning” organizations like Planned Parenthood if they want fewer abortions to occur.

“They don’t believe in family planning, so it’s not just about terminating a pregnancy, it’s about preventing money going to people,” she said. “If you don’t like terminating a pregnancy you should love family planning right? But they do not support that.”

Of course, conservatives do support family planning in the sense of actually planning to have a family. But for Pelosi and the pro-abortionist left, “family planning” is just a euphemism for abortion.

Fear-mongering

As various state legislatures look to restrict abortion, Pelosi warned Monday that a woman’s “right to choose” is under attack by Republicans. Pelosi said she didn’t want to be a “fear-monger,” but Republican-led efforts to defund and close Planned Parenthood clinics are “really dangerous.”

“I don’t want to be a fear-monger, but this is scary. This is really dangerous what they’re trying to do to a woman’s right to choose,” she told an audience at East Los Angeles College.

The House Speaker went on to accuse Republicans who oppose government involvement of hypocrisy, suggesting that restrictions on abortion are a form of “Big Government.”

“It’s a funny thing because they don’t believe in governance, they don’t want clean air, clean water, food safety, all those things that governments do — they don’t want this, they don’t want that, but they [are for] big government when it comes to a woman’s right to choose. Big government there,” Pelosi said. “We have a fight on our hands.”

“Dangerous” Republicans

Pelosi added that she has spent 25 years trying to convince people that Republicans don’t support “family planning” as she understands it, but recent efforts by Republicans to defund Planned Parenthood have proven her right.

“Until just a few years ago, they decided they were going — when they had the majority — that they would take away all the funding for Planned Parenthood,” Pelosi said.

Watch below:

Twisted logic

How would supporting Planned Parenthood reduce abortions, when Planned Parenthood is the leading abortion group in the country? Pelosi’s argument is absurd on its face. It’s like she’s saying, “Do you oppose abortion? Then support abortion.”

But the kind of twisted logic in Pelosi’s reasoning is a common feature of pro-abortion arguments. It all boils down to the left using dishonest terminology and disingenuous arguments.

Abortion is “family planning” in the same sense that terminating a pregnancy is “health care.” Nobody opposes health care, but progressives use the term to obscure the reality of what abortion actually entails.

It’s the same thing with “family planning.” In what sense is killing a baby planning a family? It’s the opposite of family planning. But groups like Planned Parenthood use the term to sanitize the “services” they actually provide.

Republicans don’t support “family planning,” Pelosi says. Democrats do, by supporting groups like Planned Parenthood, which reportedly aborted more than 300,000 babies as recently as 2018, adding to the gruesome toll of 50 million aborted since the Roe v. Wade ruling in 1973.

In what world is that “family planning?”
