Former vice president Joe Biden is once again facing scandal on account of his son Hunter.
An Arkansas woman alleges that Hunter Biden is the father of her child and is seeking child support. The woman’s attorney, however, said that she doesn’t want to bring any bad publicity to the campaign of Hunter’s dad — she just wants financial support for her child.
While Joe Biden faces controversies of his own creation, his 49-year-old son has been a source of Jerry Springer-like scandal over his reported drug use, which got him kicked out of the Navy, a bitter divorce, a relationship with his dead brother’s wife, and allegations of conflict of interest involving his father’s dealings with China and Ukraine.
Arkansas woman sues Hunter Biden for child support
Now, there’s a fresh scandal to add to this litany of eyesores. Less than a month after Hunter secretly married his second wife, South African native Melissa Cohen — ten days after meeting her and just months after ending a relationship with the wife of his dead brother Beau — another woman has alleged that Hunter is the father of her child.
According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 28-year-old Lunden Alexis Roberts filed suit against Biden last month seeking paternity, child support and health care for her 10-month old “Baby Doe,” born August 2018. The woman said that she conceived the child while in a relationship with Biden.
It’s not clear when the relationship began or ended, but it would have coincided with Biden’s relationship with Hallie Biden, the former wife of his late brother Beau, who died from brain cancer in 2015. Hunter started dating his dead brother’s wife while he was still married to his first wife of 24 years, Kathleen Buhle, who he divorced in 2017.
Roberts’ lawyers said that she doesn’t want to cause a “spectacle” but she has been unable to serve papers to Biden. “She really values her privacy,” her lawyer said.
Joe’s campaign rocked by son’s scandals, as well as his own
Hunter’s playboy lifestyle has been a source of scandal for his father, particularly as the former vice president struggles with the fallout of numerous self-inflicted controversies rocking his presidential campaign. Hunter has brought negative attention to his father’s campaign over his shadowy business dealings with foreign countries with which his father dealt diplomatically.
Biden’s reported drug abuse and adultery don’t help matters. In divorce papers, Biden’s first wife alleged that Hunter spent “extravagantly” on “drugs, alcohol, prostitutes, strip clubs, and gifts for women” with whom he had affairs. Granted, there are two sides to a story, but there seems to be a pattern.
Biden’s name was listed as an account on adultery site Ashley Madison, a dating site for people in marriages or relationships looking to cheat, when the site was hacked in 2015. His relationship with his brother’s wife is sordid enough without bringing another affair and a secret child into the mix, but if the paternity allegation is true, then he would have been dating Roberts while still in a relationship with his sister-in-law.
After receiving a waiver for his age and a “youthful drug offense” to join the Navy, Hunter was discharged in 2014 after testing positive for cocaine. A police report filed last month said that Biden returned a rental car in Arizona with a smoked crack pipe inside just days before the 2016 election.
Questions have also mounted over Hunter’s business dealings in China and Ukraine while his father served in the White House. Hunter was a board member in a Ukrainian energy company, Burisma Holdings, while his father steered diplomatic relations with the Eastern European country amid the Ukrainian crisis. Biden reportedly had a prosecutor who was investigating Burisma Holdings fired after threatening Ukraine’s president.
After visiting China with his father in 2013, Hunter’s private equity firm cut a billion dollar deal with the Chinese government.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden’s presidential campaign nearly imploded this week after he praised his past work with segregationist senators, just the latest in a series of gaffes for the Democrat.
