This morning a photographer released photos of Ocasio-Cortez that he said were taken when she was still an unknown House candidate in New York. AOC then retweeted them out to all her adoring fans:
I’ll never forget this, because it was the moment I saw with my own eyes that the America I love was becoming a nation that steals refugee children from their parents,& caged them.
More kids died after this. To date, no one has been held accountable.
We need to save these kids. https://t.co/HhdMqc5zML

But many people don’t believe her, including some of her own fans. They have responded saying the photos look staged, saying she’s trying to make this all about her:
Great, but why post photos only of yourself, your reactions, and no children? I support your efforts but this looks too staged. https://t.co/Rh2CtW6BqP

I love AOC but these images feel so staged, it undermines her credibility on these issues. This crisis is not about “ striking” photos of a Congresswoman, it is about DYING CHILDREN.

And many others also agreed:
Photographer: Okay give me a face of disgust….perfect! Now do your best fake crying pose so we can get some clout with this! https://t.co/hyBclRStpZ
