Sarah Palin: Alabama Dem’s ‘shocking’ abortion comments are ‘proof that evil’s overtaken some human beings’

Earlier this week, an Alabama Democrat made some truly heinous statements in opposition to an anti-abortion bill. Now, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is taking exception.

Palin told Breitbart News that the abortion comments made by state Rep. John Rogers (D-Birmingham) are “proof that evil’s overtaken some human beings.”

Abortion bill

Rogers’ remarks came this week as the Alabama House considered “The Human Life Protection Act.” The bill, HB 314, would make abortion a Class A felony and attempted abortion a Class C felony. It is not without exceptions, however, such as when the pregnancy would pose a serious health risk to the mother.

Rogers chose to voice his displeasure with this pro-life piece of legislation with some truly abhorrent arguments.

“Some kids are unwanted, so you kill them now or you kill them later,” he said, referring to children who end up in the criminal justice system. “You bring them in the world unwanted, unloved, you send them to the electric chair. So, you kill them now or you kill them later.”

It gets worse …

Rogers went on to talk about those children who are born with special needs: “Some parents can’t handle a child with problems,” he said. “It could be retarded. It might have no arms and no legs.”

This likely particularly struck a chord with Palin, who has not only advocated on their behalf but has a son with Down Syndrome.

Donald Trump Jr. also called Rogers out. “This is stomach curling and makes Ralph Northam look like a moderate on abortion,” he said, referring to Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s recent comments in favor of infanticide.

Rogers responded aggressively, by calling Trump Jr. “retarded” and saying that he is “proof that mothers ought to have the right to have an abortion.”

Trump Jr.’s “mother should have aborted him [before] he was born,” Rogers added.

The inflammatory comments drew widespread condemnation from the right and even from the left, who worry that Rogers is attracting the wrong sort of attention. The last thing Democrats want is a spotlight on the callous reality of abortion.

Victory for life

While Rogers’ depravity continued, HB 314 passed the Alabama House by a vote of 74 to 3, with most Democrats choosing not to vote. Now, it is time for the Alabama people to get rid of Rogers.

“It’s shocking that these people would be elected to lead,” said Palin. “I really don’t want to live in a world like this; do others agree with me or am I just really out of touch with what passes as ‘leadership’ today?”
