Pelosi ‘treats me as she might treat her maid,’ Kellyanne Conway says

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway got the final say in a war of words after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rudely brushed her aside during a Wednesday meeting.

“She treats me as she might treat her maid or her pilots or makeup artists or her wardrobe consultants,” Conway announced. “I told her, ‘Gee, it’s so pro-woman of you.'”

Conway complains Pelosi treated her like a ‘maid’

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway is taking verbal jabs at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi following a White House meeting that dissolved into rancor, Wednesday. Conway said Pelosi treated her “as she might treat her maid” during the exchange.

Conway said that Pelosi condescended to her during a now-infamous infrastructure meeting that went south Wednesday after Pelosi accused Trump of a criminal “cover up.”  Trump abruptly ended the meeting over the remark and demanded that Democrats end their investigations before he works with them.

Conway: Pelosi “thinks we’re all staff”

Speaking to reporters on the White House lawn Wednesday, Conway gave her account of the ill-fated infrastructure meeting — and it wasn’t flattering to Pelosi. Contrary to Pelosi’s claims that Trump threw a “temper tantrum,” Pelosi is the one who was rude and condescending, Conway said.

After Trump left the meeting, Pelosi told those still in the meeting that Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt would never have behaved like she alleges Trump acted. When Conway asked Pelosi if she had a “direct response to the president,” Pelosi snapped at her.

“I said, respectfully, ‘Madame Speaker, would you like to address some of the specifics the president raised?’” Conway told reporters at the White House. “And she did what she does all the time and said, ‘I talk to the president, not to staff. Because after all, she thinks we’re all staff.”

“I believe she is the sixth or so richest member of Congress and behaves that way,” Conway continued. “She treats me as she might treat her maid or her pilots or her makeup artist, or her wardrobe consultants. And I told her, ‘Gee, it’s so pro-woman of you.'”

“My whole point was, the president spoke for three minutes and was very specific about why he was turning around and walking out very calmly,” Conway added. “She didn’t address any of that, she did what she often does, which is get off topic, way off message, and she started talking about Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt and what they had done on infrastructure.”

Pelosi has an estimated net worth of $16 million.

Conway flips “tantrum” story on Pelosi

Trump is not known for having an even-keeled personality, but it sounds like Pelosi may have a temper problem herself. Speaking at her weekly press conference Thursday, Pelosi let Conway have the final word, snapping, “I’m not going to talk about her.”

However, Pelosi continued to bash Trump at the conference, asking his family and administration to stage an “intervention” and joking about invoking the 25th amendment to remove Trump from office. Pelosi also doubled down on her accusations that Trump engaged in a “cover up” and said for the second time in as many days that she was “praying” for the president.

Pelosi first made the “cover up remark” the day before, just moments before the doomed meeting with Trump. After leaving the meeting Wednesday, Trump entered the Rose Garden for a spontaneous press conference in which he demanded that Democrats end their “phony” investigations before he resumes working with them, stating, “I don’t do cover ups.”

Trump went on the attack again Thursday with another fiery press conference at the White House, in which he gave Pelosi a derogatory nickname for the first time — “crazy” — and denied Pelosi’s description of the meeting. Trump called on Conway and other staffers at the presser to attest that he calmly left the meeting.

Conway continued on the offensive Thursday on Fox News, flipping Pelosi’s “temper tantrum” story on the Speaker. After challenging Pelosi on the cover up remarks, Conway said, Trump told Democrats to drop the games and left “calmly.” “He never raised his voice…..The president said, ‘let’s work on infrastructure’, and then he left, very calmly,” Conway said.
