Sean Hannity declares Trump ‘fully vindicated’ by Mueller report: ‘The witch hunt is officially over’

Fox News host Sean Hannity is one of the few news anchors to give it to Americans straight when it comes to the special counsel’s Russia investigation — and he continued his record for truth and honesty last week after Robert Mueller released his highly anticipated 448-page final report.

During his show’s opening monologue on Thursday, Hannity declared that Trump was “completely vindicated” by Mueller’s findings and predicted that “an avalanche of truth and justice is about to bury all of those who abused their power” conducting the phony investigation.

“The witch hunt is officially over, the Mueller report is out and the president of the United States has been totally, completely vindicated,” Hannity said.

Hannity breaks it down

The Fox News star and syndicated radio host explained that establishment media types were so invested in their collusion narrative that they forget to check the facts of their reporting. The fact that Mueller failed to uncover even a hint of collusion represents the “biggest beatdown the media mob has ever experienced in history,” according to Hannity.

Instead of apologizing for turning journalism into a vindictive form of political activism, said Hannity, reporters are merely “doubling down” by riding potential obstruction of justice allegations into oblivion. Journalists from CNN to MSNBC are attempting to salvage their reputations by seizing on the Mueller report’s implication that Trump may have interfered with the special counsel’s baseless and unjustified investigation.

“For 2 1/2 years, you, we, the American people, have been the victims of the biggest con job in American history,” Hannity said. “Every second, every hour, every day, the Democrats, the hate-Trump media mob perpetrated a lie.”

Prosecuting a non-crime

To make the case for obstruction of justice, Mueller’s report detailed how Trump attempted to undermine the investigation by firing individuals who were central to the investigation, from Mueller himself to former Attorney General Jeff Sessions. However, since Trump never followed through with any of these personnel decisions, Democrats will be hard-pressed to prove obstruction.

“I know you will agree that, if a DOJ investigation is going to take down a democratically-elected President, it is imperative to the health of our system and to our national cohesion that any claim of wrongdoing is solidly based on evidence of a real crime — not a debatable one,” Attorney General William Barr wrote in a June memo.

Moreover, many legal scholars — including Barr — believe that the powers of the executive branch should not be subject to charges of obstruction of justice. Indeed, the president can fire whomever he wants within his cabinet for any reason, and at any time.

Just getting started

Besides enjoying the support of a strong-willed attorney general, the president has the backing of a small circle of defenders at Fox News. But this may not be enough to stave off dozens of Democratic-led congressional investigations targeting Trump in the following months.

As a member of the small but powerful conservative news media, Hannity promised to support and defend the president from these types of plots undertaken by the Democratic Party: “We’re going to do our part to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Trump agreed. “This should never happen to another president again,” he said in a press conference on the day of the Mueller report’s release.

Unfortunately, the radical left is just getting started.
