Kellyanne Takes Trolling To A Whole New Level – Shows America Just How Much Dems’ Have Accomplished In Congress
“This is the success of the Democrats in the first 100 days of Congress.”
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway mocked her political opponents Thursday by holding up a document she claimed showed Democrats’ successes during the first 100 days of Congress.
It was a blank sheet of paper.
“This is the success of the Democrats in the first 100 days of Congress,” Conway said holding up the paper. “Here it is. There’s nothing.”
Conway was addressing reporters at the White House, responding to the release of the Mueller report, which she characterized as the “best day” since President Donald Trump’s election and an unmitigated vindication of Trump.
“I called this a political proctology exam,” she said, claiming Trump had received a “clean bill of health.”
The Trump aide said the report’s findings should “make people very good about democracy.”
“We’re accepting apologies today, too, for anybody who feels the grace in offering them,” she added, echoing a common sentiment among the right that liberal fixation on the Trump-Russia investigation has been motivated less by a desire to see justice done than to see the president removed from office.
Earlier in the day liberal journalist Judd Legum was ridiculed for posting a disgruntled tweet following the release of the Mueller report.
The founder of the progressive ThinkProgress news site was responding to a self-referential meme shared by Trump that declared “Game Over.” Apparently triggered by the “Game of Thrones”-themed post, Legum suggested that Trump’s fondness for memes was somehow damning.
In late March, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders blasted Democrats following the conclusion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller wrapping up his two year investigation into Russian election meddling late last month.
“I think he did a good job by finishing. I think that it’s disgraceful the fact that it took two years,” Sanders said of Mueller. “I think it’s disgraceful that we had $25 million in taxpayer money to chase a witch hunt that never should have taken place in the first place.”
“I think Democrats and the liberal media should be absolutely embarrassed by their behavior over the last 2 years,” Sanders continued. “In their breathless reporting, and their hope…for the take-down of the president of the United States.”
Central to the investigation was whether or not Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia in an attempt to influence the 2106 election. According to Attorney General William Barr’s summary of the report, Mueller was unable to find evidence that Trump or his campaign engaged in such activities.
Republicans celebrated the news as a vindication of the president and an indictment of what Trump has called a politically motivated “Witch Hunt.”
