Bill and Hillary Clinton add April dates, special guests to nationwide speaking tour

Hillary Clinton might have given up her presidential ambitions, but the Clintons aren’t finished cashing in on their political capital.

Bill and Hillary Clinton announced in a tweet on Wednesday that they are hitting the road this month to continue their speaking tour, “An Evening with the Clintons.”

The tour got off to a rough start in November, but this time they’ll be joined by “friends” from the Hollywood elite.

Clintons announce new tour dates

The political power couple seems to have given up any pretense of distinguishing between public service and self-enrichment as they return to touring, now joined by such experts in public policy as Zoolander actor Ben Stiller. Like the Obamas, the Clintons seem to be settling comfortably into a retirement of touring the country to chatter about their illustrious careers in public service.

Joined by stars from the elite set, the power couple will “provide a unique perspective on the past, and remarkable insight into where we go from here.” There will probably be little talk of Oval Office sex scandals, emails, or destabilizing Libya, but audiences can reportedly expect “stories and inspiring anecdotes that shaped their historic careers in public service.”

Tour dates include an April 12 appearance at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan with Stiller, who plays former Trump attorney Michael Cohen on Saturday Night Live. They’ll be joined by comedian Jordan Klepper in Washington on April 27.

Other guests include former adviser to President Clinton Paul Begala, actor and former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha, Scandal actor Tony Goldwyn, and former The View host Star Jones. The Clintons announced the 13-date tour in October.

The tour kicked off in November with a night of Trump-bashing to a nearly empty stadium in Toronto, Canada. Ticket prices plummeted to as low as $11 in December as the couple struggled to attract audiences.

The tour’s remaining dates were listed at discount prices on Groupon.

Undeterred, Clinton grift grinds on

The Clintons have long enriched themselves through speaking tours, paid speeches to Wall Street investors, and book deals. Despite cues from the public that interest in the couple is fading, there’s no sign that they’re satisfied with the grifting they’ve done so far.

Indeed, since her election loss, Clinton has toured the world to complain about her defeat, blame everybody but herself for her lackluster campaign, and attack Trump as a racist in interviews and speaking engagements. Clinton also found a way to profit from her crushing defeat with a book tour to promote her memoir, What Happened.

“He does have a strong streak of racism that goes back to his early years,” Clinton told The Guardian last year. “I include his anti-immigrant tirades because he characterizes immigrants in very racially derogatory ways, but he was Islamophobic, he was anti-women, he really had the whole package of bigotry that he was putting on offer to those who were intrigued and attracted to him.”

The couple’s tour coincides with the smash success of Michelle Obama’s book tour for her bestselling memoir, Becoming. Obama even added more dates to the tour to satisfy popular demand. Ticket prices reportedly range from $300 to $2,500.
