Anthony Weiner ordered to register as Level One sex offender

Anthony Weiner, formerly a rising star in the Democratic Party and congressman from New York, is about to be released from custody following a 21-month sentence for engaging in explicit sexual online communications with a minor.

As part of the conditional agreement for his early release from prison — Weiner has been living in a halfway house since leaving federal prison in February — the disgraced ex-politician with close ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton must register with the state of New York as a sex offender.

Must register as a sex offender

Because Weiner has been deemed a low level risk to re-offend, his status is designated a that of a Level One sex offender.

As such, he will retain this registration classification for at least the next 20 years, will be required to verify his address with authorities every year, update his photo with local police every three years, and notify the state within 10 days if he moves.

It is expected that Weiner will be released from the halfway house in mid-May, though he will spend the next three years of his regained, yet still restricted freedom under court supervision.

It is noteworthy that Weiner’s name and information won’t appear in New York’s online registry of sex offenders, but will be made available to those who call a special toll-free hotline for the sex offender registry.

Sexually explicit online messaging

Weiner pleaded guilty to charges of transferring obscene material to a minor in 2017, following the 2016 revelation that he had engaged in a series of online messages with a 15-year-old girl in North Carolina. Those messages included him sending semi-nude photos of himself to the young girl while requesting she return the favor with nude photos and pictures of her enacting sexually explicit behavior.

That wasn’t the first time Weiner’s online sex-capades got him into trouble, as he was compelled to resign in disgrace from Congress in 2011 after sending semi-nude photos of himself to a young college student. It was later revealed he had done the same with several other women as well.

That exact same sort of activity was further exposed in 2013 as having continued unabated since his resignation from Congress two years prior when Weiner launched a failed bid to be New York City mayor.

It was an incredible fall from grace for the man who served in Congress for nearly 12 years and was at one point considered a top star for the future of the Democratic Party.

Clinton’s emails on Weiner’s laptop

Anthony Weiner was, and may even still be, married to Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s closest and most trusted aide. Abedin initially filed for a divorce in 2017, but dropped the case when she and Weiner agreed to work out a separation privately.

Weiner’s troubles quite likely had an impact on Clinton’s failed presidential run in 2016, as thousands upon thousands of Clinton’s emails — some of which were classified — from her scandalous unsecured private email server were discovered on Weiner’s laptop computer when it was taken into custody as evidence following his arrest.

That discovery led to an October announcement from then-FBI Director James Comey that the investigation into Clinton’s emails — previously dismissed that July — had been reopened, only for it to be closed again just days later, roughly one week prior to the 2016 election. It should be pointed out that the presence of Clinton’s emails on Weiner’s laptop was never sufficiently explained to the public, but rather was essentially swept under the rug as though it never happened.

Clinton has blamed that late-cycle announcement from Comey, among about 100 other random things, for her surprising electoral loss to President Donald Trump, who she and everyone else had arrogantly assumed would be defeated handily.

Anthony Weiner is a disgusting and disgraceful individual that can’t seem to keep himself out of trouble, and that trouble has affected those around him to some extent or another — including the Clintons, who certainly don’t need the extra baggage from Weiner, as they have more than enough of their own.
