Judge Jeanine Pirro cancels Friday appearance on ‘Hannity’ over ‘serious family emergency’

Judge Jeanine Pirro is finally out of the Fox News dog house. But her return to the network didn’t go quite as smoothly as planned.

The Justice with Judge Jeanine host had to cancel her planned appearance Friday night’s episode of Hannity because of a “serious family emergency.”

A voice missing

Pirro has been missing from her Saturday night time slot on Fox News since March 9, when she questioned on air that whether Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is loyal to the U.S. Constitution.

“Think about it: Omar wears a hijab, which according to the Quran, 33:59, tells women to cover so they won’t get molested,” Pirro said. “Is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?”

Pirro’s comment sparked widespread backlash, prompting advertisers to ditch the 67-year-old’s show, which Fox took off the air for two weeks. The network also released a statement condemning their Saturday night star, which read:

We strongly condemn Jeanine Pirro’s comments about Rep. Ilhan Omar. They do not reflect those of the network and we have addressed the matter with her directly.

Pirro’s forced hiatus was supposed to come to an end on Friday with Pirro appearing on her colleague Sean Hannity’s program. But fans had to wait another day.

“Before I go,” Hannity said right before signing off, “I had promoted yesterday and on my radio show today that Judge Jeanine Pirro would be joining us tonight on the program. She had a really serious family emergency come up, couldn’t be with us. I don’t know the nature of it. We always pray for her.”

Fox News did not comment.

A triumphant return

Although the nature of the family emergency remains unclear, Pirro was able to make her official return to primetime on Saturday evening, focusing much of her airtime to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s recently submitted report, which could become public in the next several weeks.

Pirro began her Saturday opening monologue by calling Mueller’s investigation an “attempted coup” to take down President Donald Trump and cautioning that it could happen again.

“This is bound to happen again because these arrogant, lying, condescending, leaking haters of you and me and America that don’t have power are going to do it again unless we stop them,” she said. “Don’t be satisfied with the Mueller Report.”

Pirro also hosted former New York mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani on her Saturday program. Giuliani told the judge that he expects evidence of “criminal” conduct by top Justice Department officials to emerge in the coming months before lauding her return.

“We need, at this time, that our country is in trouble, we need your common sense voice,” Guiliani told Pirro.

The Fox host made no mention of her two-week suspension in Saturday’s episode.
