Tucker Carlson slams ‘dumb and totally ignorant’ Ocasio-Cortez

Tucker Carlson is done listening to the left’s favorite Democratic-socialist, 29-year-old Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). On his show Tuesday night, Carlson blasted the freshman Congresswoman for being “dumb and totally ignorant” and yet, somehow, extremely confident at the same time.

In a short segment, the Fox host played a montage of some of AOC’s most hare-brained statements since she entered the political spotlight in June.

Loved by the media and mocked by conservatives, Ocasio-Cortez has won plenty of fans with her upbeat personality and youthful image, but she has become a figure of fun to the right for her extreme and thinly detailed ideas to fix society’s woes, often couched in garbled rhetoric.

“In her brief time in the political limelight on what, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has said a lot of interesting stuff, here’s one thing she said,” Carlson started off.

Carlson played some of AOC’s greatest hits, including the time she said that being “morally right” is more important than being factually correct and the time she compared climate change to World War II.

“An agency like ICE, which repeatedly and systematically violates human rights does not deserve a dime,” she said. “The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change. This is our World War II,” she said in another short clip. “I think there are a lot of people more concerned about being precisely factually, and semantically correct, then about being morally right.”

Carlson wondered aloud how someone so “dumb” could be so confident and suggested that the education system might be to blame. “So not only dumb and totally ignorant of everything, but utterly self-assured. If there were a clinical exam for self-esteem, she would be in the 100th percentile,” Carlson added. “How do people get like that? Is it our education system? Is it high school? Is it colleges?”

Ocasio-Cortez unveiled details of the Green New Deal last week and was met with jeers from conservatives and a cold reception from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called it “the green dream, or whatever they call it” and praised Ocasio-Cortez for her “enthusiasm.”

The Green New Deal hasn’t done much to challenge stereotypes about Ocasio-Cortez or the generation she is said to represent. An FAQ document of the proposal that was released by Ocasio-Cortez’s office calls for a federal jobs guarantee and universal health care for those unable or “unwilling” to work, eliminating air travel, and seems to suggest that regulating cow farts is an environmental priority.

Carlson referred to the “unwilling to work” section in an recent interview with an adviser for Ocasio-Cortez, Cornell University Law School professor Robert Hockett, who later admitted that he lied on Carlson’s show when he claimed that the “unwilling to work” language came from a “doctored” version of the Green New Deal.  The botched rollout got more confusing when Ocasio-Cortez’s office said that they did not intend to release the “unfinished” FAQ document that they indeed released in an apparent attempt at damage control.

The rocky rollout is Ocasio-Cortez’s latest flub since her rise to political celebrity. The freshman lawmaker has become the unofficial face of the radical left, and has been criticized by both conservatives and liberals for her ambitious, expensive proposals, described in vague detail and with a casual attitude towards factual correctness, including the Green New Deal and Medicare-for-All.

The Green New Deal might be the most absurd idea Ocasio-Cortez has proposed yet, and some are calling it a gift to Republicans and a distillation of the left’s craziness. President Donald Trump mocked the Green New Deal at an El Paso rally on Monday, calling it a “high school term paper that got a low mark.”
