Twitter reportedly deleted more than 10,000 accounts which allegedly could have affected the upcoming elections.
And the move came after a request from Democrats.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reportedly referred the accounts to the social media platform which began to remove them in late September and early October, according to Reuters, which called it “an early win for a fledgling effort” by the group which supports Democrats running for the U.S. House of Representatives.
“We took action on relevant accounts and activity on Twitter,” a Twitter spokesman said in an email.
The more than 10,000 automated accounts were deleted after “posting messages that discouraged people from voting in Tuesday’s U.S. election and wrongly appeared to be from Democrats, after the party flagged the misleading tweets to the social media company,” Reuters reported.
Although no specifics were given, the tweets apparently included some aimed at Democratic men, allegedly discouraging them from voting because that would drown out the voice of women.
“We provide the DNC with reports about what we’re seeing in terms of bot activity and where it’s being amplified,” Ash Bhat, the co-founder of RoBhat Labs, said.
“We can’t tell you who’s behind these different operations, Twitter hides that from us, but with the technology you known when and how it’s happening,” he added.
Twitter’s partisan deletions at the behest of Democrats seems on-sided as there was no indication Republicans have been given the same opportunity.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reportedly launched the efforts to combat the alleged false information that was shared during the 2016 presidential election.
Not surprisingly, there was mixed reaction on Twitter, although many wondered aloud about the social media giant acting on the word of Democrats.
“Twitter said that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had brought the accounts to their attention.”

Wait, what? Twitter just deleted 10,000 accounts literally days before the mid-terms because the DEMOCRAT PARTY TOLD THEM TO?! Why the fuck would we believe that the Democrat Party claiming accounts were fake/trolls solely on their word?! https://t.co/Fu3k3EcQpY

According to Reuters, Twitter DEPENDED on accounts being identified by tools created by a partisan DEMOCRATIC group.
NO indication that Republican party was given the same consideration as Democrats in CHOOSING Twitter ACCOUNTS to be DELETED from the social media platform.

10,000 democrat “walk away” accounts no doubt. The walk away movement is real and censorship will not change anything. Twitter, Facebook, Google should worry about the Juditial Watch class action lawsuit and stop playing free speech police.

Wow, I’m surprised Twitter had time to do that since they are always suspending Conservatives/Trump supporters for hate speech 😂😂 Everytime we speak the truth snowflakes run tell their daddy Jack.

Random question … Why does my Twitter feed page under “For you” show the vast majority of posts from Democrats?
I did not ever request that I be spoon fed Liberal tweets.
Talk about trying to brainwash … well it won’t work here!
