The Senate Judiciary Committee will reconvene this morning at 10:00 AM ET to consider the testimony of Christine Blasey Ford, who alleges Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh assaulted her in high school. Just kidding. The Democrats will consider that testimony and the Republicans will completely dismiss it, having already determined that all women are liars, and even if they aren't, Kavanaugh deserves to be on the Supreme Court because he's been a loyal and corrupt foot soldier for the GOP.
Republicans are going into this with a batshit press conference by Donald Trump, in which he made Kavanaugh a surrogate for himself at the forefront in everyone's mind. Exactly what they did not want to happen, and a cause of real concern among Republican senators. Nonetheless, Chairman Chuck Grassley and his Republicans have steadfastly refused to allow an independent investigation of Ford's claims. Or those of Deborah Ramirez, who says Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a college party. Or Julie Swetnick, who alleges Kavanaugh was one of a bunch of young men who gang-raped her one summer night. They have refused to allow an investigation into those claims, and they are refusing to allow testimony from witnesses who have come forward to the media to back up every case.
Dr. Ford will tell the committee "My motivation in coming forward was to provide the facts about how Mr. Kavanaugh’s actions have damaged my life." The committee will have its "female assistant" (as Mitch McConnell calls her) handle the members' questions. Democrats will have five minutes per senator to ask them. Ford and Kavanaugh will be questioned separately.
