Republicans keep attacking Nancy Pelosi, even though polls show voters don't really care

Republicans have been attacking Nancy Pelosi in true burn-the-witch fashion for years, and they continue to do so—even though polls suggest the attacks aren’t convincing voters. Both Republicans and Democrats have internal polls with that finding, Roll Call reports, in addition to public polling showing the same.

A Republican National Committee poll shows that “When the November election is framed by Trump and Pelosi, respondents preferred Pelosi-aligned candidates over Trump-aligned ones by 5 points, 50 percent to 45 percent, Bloomberg reported,” and a Democratic poll finds that attacks on Pelosi, in Donald Trump’s own words, rank well behind Trump’s words on other issues for effectiveness with voters. In a Washington Post/ABC News poll, the most common answer to a question about how important a House candidate’s position on Pelosi is was that it’s “not important.” And:

Before that, a CNN poll conducted Aug. 9-12 also found that only 34 percent of voters identified Pelosi as an issue that was very or extremely important to their vote. Twice as many, 68 percent, said the same of Trump. Pelosi ranked the lowest in importance among the 10 issues presented to voters in the survey.

Don’t expect Republicans to stop running attacks on a powerful woman, though. It’s a big part of their brand.

Take back the House! Can you give $1 to each of these amazing Democratic women?
