CNN To Follow Up Stormy Interview With Scripted James Comey ‘Town Hall’

CNN is giving former FBI Director James Comey a platform as he will be appearing in a town hall hosted by the network next month.

Comey, who was fired by President Trump last May, will be reportedly answering questions with a live audience at the April 25 event.

“The one-hour primetime Town Hall, moderated by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, will be live from Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall at Comey’s alma mater, William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and will be co-hosted by the Student Assembly at William & Mary,” CNN’s public relations team announcedWednesday.

“Following the release of Comey’s book, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies & Leadership, Cooper will moderate a conversation between Comey and a live audience as they discuss his FBI career, his public firing and the high profile cases he oversaw including the bureau’s handling of the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation and potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russia,” the release read.

The town hall event will follow an April 19 interview of Comey scheduled with CNN’s Jake Tapper which is reportedly part of the former FBI chief’s book tour.

Comey has been quite vocal in his criticism of President Trump and his administration, even if many of his comments have not directly mentioned the president by name.

He directed a message to Trump earlier this month after FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was fired.

Trump hardly flinched and fired back at Comey in tweets of his own, calling him out for lying under oath during his congressional testimony in 2017 and for making McCabe “look like a choirboy.”

CNN’s town hall will probably draw in its share of viewers curious to hear what Comey has to say on his own behalf and, with the network’s track record of presenting biased coverage of anything Trump, liberals will eat it up.

Others, however, had recent memories of the one-sided town hall on gun violence following the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida last month.

“These are not journalistic exercises. These are partisan political ones,” conservative commentator and author  Michelle Malkin said after last month’s town hall.
