Pres. Biden unveils plan to give the coronavirus jab to 5 to 11-year-olds

If it’s not bad enough that coronavirus vaccinations are being pushed on those in the 12 to 18 age group, now the Biden administration is targeting 5 to 11-year-olds.

This week the Biden administration unveiled a plan to vaccinate against the coronavirus the roughly 28 million children in the 5 to 11 age group, the Daily Wire reports

“Today the Biden administration is announcing a plan to ensure that, if a vaccine is authorized for children ages 5-11, it is quickly distributed and made conveniently and equitably available to families across the country,” the White House said on Wednesday. “Our planning efforts mean that we will be ready to begin getting shots in arms in the days following a final CDC recommendation.”

In the statement, the Biden White House goes on to say that, as part of its plan, schools, community-based clinics, and health centers will all play a role in getting these 5 to 11-year-olds vaccinated. The administration also plans to launch a campaign to “educate” Americans about coronavirus vaccinations.

Biden is just waiting on the FDA and CDC to say “go”

In its statement, the Biden White House says that it is just waiting for coronavirus vaccination approval for the 5 to 11 age group from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

These two bodies will meet, respectively, on October 26th and November 2 to determine whether to give this approval.

By the way that the Biden administration is already talking, though, it would seem that approval is inevitable.

A big question:

Based on the CDC’s numbers, children rarely experience serious complications from the coronavirus. Those numbers show that, among those in the 5 to 18 age group, less than 450 have died from the coronavirus since January 2020.

So, the risk that the coronavirus poses to young children appears to be almost nonexistent.

At the same time, we don’t know what long-term consequences may result from these vaccines, but we do know about some short-term side effects.

So, the big question is why we would take these risks for an age group that has little to no chance of experiencing serious complications from the coronavirus.

The Biden administration’s answer is:

Millions of adolescents ages 12-17 have been safely vaccinated, and we know vaccines work. The consequences of a pediatric COVID-19 case can be serious and potentially last months.
