GOP Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is calling on Joe Biden’s hyper-partisan attorney general to step down over his intimidation campaign against America’s parents.
In a tweet, Hawley (R-MO) said Garland “mobilized the FBI to intimidate parents” who are opposed to critical race theory and mask mandates “without legal basis” and called on him to resign for the “dangerous abuse of authority.”
“He should resign”
Garland was questioned by lawmakers last week over a memo vowing to crack down on an alleged epidemic of “threats” against school officials from parents.
The memo came in response to a National School Boards Association (NSBA) letter asking Garland to begin treating vocal parents like perpetrators of “domestic terrorism” using the surveillance powers in the Patriot Act, the sweeping counterterrorism law enacted by President George W. Bush after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
Facing blowback, the NSBA later apologized and acknowledged that there was “no justification for some of the language included in the letter,” Fox reported.
After the NSBA’s mea culpa, Hawley called on Garland to step aside for threatening innocent parents with political persecution.
Merrick Garland mobilized the FBI to intimidate parents without legal basis and, we now know, premised on misinformation he didn’t bother to verify. It was a dangerous abuse of authority that has badly compromised the Justice Dept’s integrity and Garland’s. He should resign. https://t.co/MXKN5j0L5g

Garland tries to downplay
According to Fox, Republican Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) also suggested it was time for Garland to admit fault, tweeting, “Will the AG reverse?”
During questioning last week, Garland seemed reluctant to describe protesting parents as terrorists as he sought to do damage control.
“I can’t imagine any circumstance in which the Patriot Act would be used in the circumstances of parents complaining about their children, nor can I imagine a circumstance where they would be labeled as domestic terrorism,” he said, as Fox reported.
Despite Garland’s attempts to downplay his authoritarian, insidious memo, emails that surfaced last week show that the White House colluded with the NSBA on their “domestic terrorism” letter before Garland announced his intimidation campaign.
More Republicans should be speaking out and demanding accountability from this reckless administration. Parents are not the enemy, and political dissent is not a crime.
