Biden admin denies Gov. Abbott’s reimbursement request for protecting southern border

As sections of the souther U.S. border continue to be overrun by illegal immigrants, especially in Texas, governors like Gov. Greg Abbott (R) have been forced to use considerable state funds to help keep the border as safe as officials possibly can while outnumbered.

However, according to the Washington Examiner, Presiden Joe Biden and his administration don’t seem to care much about Texas’ problems, as it was revealed over the weekend that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Deanne Criswell denied Abbott’s request that the state is reimbursed for providing services that Biden’s government should be providing.

The Republican governor first requested help in a letter sent to Biden in the middle of September.

This marks the second such request from the Texas governor that has been formally denied by the Biden administration.

Request denied

Criswell made crystal clear that her agency was not interested in reimbursing millions in expenses incurred by the state of Texas in its efforts to help secure its border with Mexico, which is routinely overrun with record numbers of illegals.

“After a thorough review of all the information contained in your initial request and appeal, we reaffirm our original findings that supplemental federal assistance under the Stafford Act is not warranted for this event,” Criswell’s response letter read, of which the Examiner obtained a copy.

Criswell added: “Therefore, I must inform you that your appeal for an emergency declaration is denied.”

Abbott’s request was based on an emergency declaration he declared earlier this year in response to the overwhelming situation at the southern U.S. border — a situation that the Biden administration doesn’t seem to be bothered with fixing.

Much of the expense reimbursements requested by the governor include costs of deploying thousands of Texas National Guard troops, and other state law enforcement officials to the area, which was a key part of Abbott’s Operation Lone Star, which he launched in March.

New wave incoming

Adding fuel to an already out-of-control fire, Texas officials are currently bracing for another massive wave of migrants, possibly numbering over 10,000 in strength, that are reportedly making their way to the southern U.S. border at the current time.

Reuters recently reported that the caravan, made up of Haitian, Central American, and other migrants, recently broke through an effort by Mexican police forces, and are headed straight for the U.S. border.

It’s truly a shame — and quite embarrassing on a world stage — that the Biden administration is failing, grossly, in its duties to maintain a safe and strong border, which is the cornerstone of any great nation.
