A group of House Republicans recently filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden over his failures and unconstitutional actions regarding the southern U.S. border crisis, the unilaterally extended federal eviction moratorium, and the disastrous U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
One of the co-sponsors of the impeachment resolution, Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX), appeared on Fox & Friends Friday to discuss the border and the articles, and denounced Biden as “the absolute, most incompetent commander-in-chief” he’d ever endured in his lifetime, Breitbart reported.
Articles formally filed
It was just a day earlier that Rep. Babin had announced his role as a co-sponsor of an article of impeachment against Biden that had been drafted as a resolution and filed by Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH).
“Since January 20, 2021, Joe Biden has done nothing but launch our nation into a state of retrograde and increased vulnerability while thwarting the rule of law at every turn,” Babin said in a statement. “He has failed miserably at his duties as Commander-in-Chief and violated his oath of office to defend the U.S. Constitution.”
The congressman briefly outlined the three primary issues for which Biden should be impeached and added: “For these reasons, I’ve joined Rep. Gibbs in bringing these articles of impeachment forward in the House of Representatives.”
Those reasons are, as outlined in the resolution, first and foremost, Biden’s failure to secure the southern U.S. border, which includes his halting of border wall construction, the ending of former President Donald Trump’s successful border and immigration policies, and a failure to adequately ensure that migrants being permitted to enter the country were not infected and contagious with COVID-19.
The second article of impeachment dealt with Biden’s unilateral extension of the federal eviction moratorium, despite being explicitly warned not to do so by the Supreme Court, while the third article was centered on Biden’s horribly mishandled Afghanistan withdrawal that benefitted the Taliban and abandoned American citizens and Afghan allies, as well as billions worth of military equipment.
“Most incompetent”
Friday morning on Fox, Rep. Babin first spent several moments excoriating the Biden administration over the southern border crisis before the articles of impeachment came up in the conversation.
“Well, with us in the minority and with [House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi [(D-CA)] in charge in the House, it’s probably not going anywhere,” Babin said when asked about the prospects of the filed resolution. “We have to have some Democrats to successfully impeach the president or anybody that he has — or any of his subordinates. But many of them need to be removed.”
With regard to the president, the congressman continued, “He’s the absolute, most incompetent commander-in-chief that we’ve ever seen, I think — I know in my lifetime, and I’m an Army and Air Force veteran myself.”
“And the things that he’s done on the border, stopping the great policies that President Trump came up with, and we talked about that earlier, letting thousands of COVID-positive individual migrants come across illegally into our country,” Babin added, “unilaterally stopping the federal mandate for evictions against the warning of the Supreme Court, and then the Afghanistan debacle, having left Americans there, left $85-$90 billion worth of assets there and not having a plan to get American citizens out or our allies.”
