California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) faces the very real possibility of being ousted from the governor’s mansion as a state recall election approaches.
While Newsom has done his best, so far, in shaking off negative polling numbers and widespread media attention over his possible recall, it’s clear that the Democratic Party is scared to death of losing him, as several of the nation’s most powerful and influential Democrats will soon rush to the state in an effort to save him, according to The Hill.
Who’s going?
So far, the highest-level Democrat who has committed to helping the embattled governor campaign to save his job is none other than Vice President Kamala Harris, who will be traveling to California on Sept. 8 in a bid to help him out.
Given Harris’ extreme unpopularity as a whole, it’s interesting that she believes she’ll have any kind of positive impact on keeping him in office, but given that California is her home state, she probably had no say in the matter, meaning her appearance is largely obligatory.

In addition to Harris, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), has also confirmed that she’ll travel to California in an effort to boost the governor, even though she’s been largely insignificant and extremely low-key since Biden took office earlier this year.
It has also been reported that President Joe Biden himself will head west in order to help save Newsom’s term, though it’s still unclear when he’ll make the trip. Biden is currently relaxing comfortably at his Delaware home, on vacation, while Americans remain trapped behind enemy lines in Afghanistan, as the New York Post reported.
Elder rises as front-runner
Later this month, California voters, who came out in droves to support the group behind the effort to recall Newsom, will be asked on a ballot whether Newsom should be recalled, and if so, who should replace him.
Conservative commentator Larry Elder, who happens to be Black, is currently leading the pack of 46 gubernatorial candidates who hope to fill Newsom’s potentially vacant seat.
Given Elder’s unexpected popularity in the liberal bastion of California, many in the mainstream media have gone to great lengths to attack him and sink his chances, with the Los Angeles Times even labeling him the “Black face of white supremacy: in a recent hit-piece.
Despite the attacks, Elder remains in prime position to capture the governor’s seat if Newsom is, in fact, ousted by those he claims to represent.
Most recently, Elder generated new headlines after he vowed to replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) with a Republican, noting that the 88-year-old longtime senator hasn’t been seen “in weeks.” With any luck, Elder will soon get the chance to reform California back to the fine state it once was.
