Mark Meadows teases at new details ‘to come’ on Hunter Biden

In an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows suggested that new details about Hunter Biden and his family’s business dealings may soon come to light.

“I can tell you, there is more to come with Hunter Biden,” Meadows, who served in the White House under then-President Donald Trump, told Newsmax’s Grant Stinchfield on the latter’s self-titled program this week, according to the Washington Examiner.

“The real influence-peddling”

Meadows also said it’s “amazing” to him that many on the left have focused on accusations of impropriety on the part of Trump while ignoring alleged evidence of wrongdoing by the Bidens.

“It’s amazing how Joe Biden and Hunter Biden actually had a quid pro quo, and to accuse President Trump of using his influence to enrich his family was just not accurate,” the former chief of staff said, according to reports.

“And now, what we’re seeing is perhaps the real influence-peddling that took place was by then-Vice President Joe Biden,” he added.

Here’s the backstory

According to the Examiner, Meadows was commenting on recent reports that alleged now-President Joe Biden and his son Hunter met with business leaders from Ukraine, Russia, and Kazakhstan in Washington back in the spring of 2015.

The president has repeatedly said he knew nothing of his son’s business dealings, but reports from the New York Post and elsewhere have continued to raise doubts.

“Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together,” one Ukrainian business leader wrote in an email to the now-president’s son in April 2015, according to the Post. “It’s [really] an honor and pleasure.”

The Post‘s reporting cited messages said to be contained on the hard drive of a now-infamous laptop that was reportedly left by Hunter Biden at a Delaware computer repair shop. The device is now said to be in the custody of the FBI.

Where’s the outrage?

But while those in Washington continue to debate over the veracity of reports that Joe Biden was involved in his son’s foreign escapades, the mainstream media has been eerily quiet on the matter.

In a May op-ed decrying other outlets’ silence, the Post‘s editorial board charged that mainstream journalists “would be all over [the Post‘s scoops] if they were about the Trump family.”

“The Biden family has been trading on Joe Biden’s high offices for decades, making millions off their presumed influence and access,” the editorial board alleged. “Yet somehow news about it all is never ‘fit to print,’ even though ‘democracy dies in darkness.'”
