Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday, including a joke that fell flat among the conservative crowd.
“Just ask any Marine today, would she rather carry 20 pounds of batteries or a rolled-up solar panel, and I am positive she will tell you a solar panel — and so would he.”
The climate change remark left the audience unimpressed.
Harris, a climate change proponent, had spoken about the issue earlier in her speech.
Climate Change Guru Harris?
“One country’s carbon emissions can threaten the sustainability of the whole earth,” the vice president said.
“This, midshipmen, is the era we are in, and it is unlike any era that came before. So the challenge now, the challenge before us now, is how to mount a modern defense to these modern threats,” Harris added.
Still, the vice president tweeted it was an honor to speak at the academy.
It was an honor to speak at the U.S. Naval Academy’s graduation and commissioning ceremony. To the class of 2021: You are tireless. You are ambitious. You are idealists in the truest sense of the word. Hold onto that. Congratulations! pic.twitter.com/NKoLuWhwU2

Not the First Time Harris Has Failed with the Military
The incident is not the only time Harris has been criticized over her actions toward the Armed Forces.
Leading into Memorial Day weekend, Harris tweeted, “Enjoy the long weekend.”

The post was considered disrespectfully to many Americans remembering the nation’s fallen soldiers on Memorial Day.
