Former President Donald Trump slammed the Biden administration over increased gas prices on Thursday in a new statement highlighting Memorial Day.
“With Memorial Day Weekend coming up, tomorrow people start driving in the biggest automobile days of the year. I’m sorry to say the gasoline prices that you will be confronted with are far higher than they were just a short number of months ago where we had gasoline under $2 a gallon,” Trump wrote.
“Remember as you’re watching the meter tick, and your dollars pile up, how great of a job Donald Trump did as President,” the former president added.

What’s Fueling Fuel Prices?
The statement came as the nation rebounds from gas shortages in some parts of country following a cyber attack on the Colonial Pipeline. More than 6,000 stations reported running out of fuel, according to the Washington Examiner.
Breitbart News reported earlier in May, “The Colonial Pipeline, which delivers about 45% of the fuel consumed on the East Coast, was hit on Friday with a cyberattack by hackers who lock up computer systems and demand a ransom to release them.”
The report added, “The pipeline runs from the Gulf Coast to the New York metropolitan region, but states in the Southeast are more reliant on it.
“Other parts of the country have more sources to tap. For example, a substantial amount of fuel is delivered to states in the Northeast by massive tankers.”
The crisis has not been averted, but the damage has been done. Between attacks and Biden’s climate change policies, the nation’s gas prices are the highest seen since Biden served as vice president with then-President Barack Obama.
Missing Energy Independence
Trump also slammed the Biden administration for giving up the nation’s energy independence.
“Soon Russia and the Middle East will be making a fortune on oil, and you will be saying how good it was to have me as your President,” Trump wrote.
“Wasn’t it great to be energy independent, but we are energy independent no more. Shame, shame, shame. Other than that, have a great Memorial Day Weekend!” he added.
