As America mourns those who gave their lives to protect the homeland, Americans learned how little Vice President Kamala Harris cares about the fallen and the nation she is sworn to serve.
The cynical veep started a storm on Twitter with a callous Memorial Day tweet that simply read, “Enjoy the long weekend,” with a picture of her grinning. Later, it appeared that Harris attempted to blunt the impact of that leaden statement, but it was too little, too late.
Harris does damage control
In a follow up post, Harris tacitly acknowledged her error with a few word for those who shed their blood for their country. “Throughout our history, our servicemen and women have risked everything to defend our freedoms and our country. As we prepare to honor them on Memorial Day, we remember their service and their sacrifice,” Harris tweeted Sunday.
While Harris appeared to make an unspoken apology, some suggested the initial tweet was not accidental, but a deliberate provocation of sorts from a cynical politician whose indifference to the country is as well-established as her unvarnished personal ambition.
Republican primary candidate and veteran Joe Kent, whose wife died fighting ISIS, said that Harris was trying to “mock” the American people on purpose.
She knows what this weekend is & what this tweet means.
It’s all designed to mock us & make us think they have achieved their goal of total control.
That’s because their lies are crumbling, starting in Arizona, Georgia & Wuhan.
They know their time is running out. https://t.co/3D5Ws1lkuG

Unworthy leaders
Kent was far from the only one to call out Harris for her blithe comments.
“Care to mention WHY we’re having a long weekend, Kamala?” tweeted Republican firebrand Lauren Boebert (R-CO).
While shockingly offensive, Harris’s post was not out of character for a vice president who has neglected her duty to respond to the southern border crisis.
For what it’s worth, President Joe Biden shared a a similarly blithe statement with a picture of himself eating ice cream. “Stay cool this weekend, folks,” he wrote.
Patriots who have given their lives for this country deserve better than “leaders” like these, who are unworthy of their sacrifice.
