Biden tosses Trump-era proposal that would block work permits for migrants facing deportation

Sleepy Joe? Try Brazen Biden.

Undeterred by dismal polls on the border crisis, the president is pushing ahead with more extreme, liberal policies that are attracting thousands of Central American migrants to overwhelm the border. In his latest move, Biden is pushing for a “de facto” amnesty for workers who are facing imminent deportation, Breitbart reports.

Common sense reform reversed

To be specific, the White House is canceling a rule that the Trump administration proposed in November that would have barred illegal aliens under removal orders from receiving work permits.

Critics at groups like the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) have long said that granting work permits to illegal aliens makes deporting them more difficult.

The CIS’s Jessica Vaughan told Breitbart that Biden’s latest move is a “de facto amnesty” and warned that the feds will do everything they can to push for those benefiting from it to stay on U.S. soil.

“This is yet another common sense Trump reform that is being reversed,” Vaughan said.

“Most Americans would be astounded to hear that in 2019 the government issued more than 25,000 work permits to people who have been ordered removed by an immigration judge,” she added. “These are often criminals who can’t be deported because their home country refuses to take them back.”

Biden doubles down despite polls

As Breitbart notes, the Biden administration justified the change as one that’s good for the economy, citing comments that it would limit “exorbitant costs and burdens on U.S. employers related to labor turnover” — in other words, protect employers who are exploiting illegal labor and giving Americans the shaft.

It’s true that employers are struggling with a scarcity of labor, but the unemployment rate remains high, a paradox that many blame on the White House giving Americans incentives to stay unemployed with generous COVID relief benefits.

This comes as deportations fell to record monthly lows in April — the same month that saw a dismal 266,000 jobs added — as the government instructs border agents to stop arresting and deporting the majority of illegal immigrants.

But Biden has denied that his open borders agenda, including a push for the biggest and boldest amnesty for illegal migrants in American history, has anything to do with the ongoing surge, instead blaming the Trump administration and “root causes” such as climate change, when he’s not denying the crisis altogether.

But polls show that a majority of Americans blame Biden for the mess, as The Hill reports. Rather than try to fix it, Biden seems determined to exacerbate the problem.
