The Stalinist left has done everything it can to scrub Donald Trump from the historical record, but he is and always will be an American president.
In recognition of this fact, a stately photograph of Trump has been added to the Smithsonian Museum’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, the Washington Examiner reported.
It might please Trump to know that he will be — at least for now — the center of attention at “America’s Presidents,” the gallery’s central exhibit. The picture will “hang in a space reserved for the nation’s most recent former president and will be a part of the permanent collections,” the museum said, and will replace Barack Obama’s presidential portrait.
Trump photo added to Smithsonian
The photograph, taken in 2019 by Pari Dukovic for Time, shows Trump with a stoic expression seated in the Oval Office, leaned slightly forward, with one hand on the Resolute Desk.
In the background can be seen five flags, one for each service branch of the U.S. military — the Space Force did not exist at the time — and portraits of Andrew Jackson and Benjamin Franklin.
Liberals may chafe at the notion, but Trump is going to receive an official portrait. It’s still being worked on. For now, the photograph will serve as a substitute.
“We are in the process of commissioning official portraits of President Trump and Mrs. Trump but have no updates to share at this time. The commissioning timeline can vary due to the creative process and scheduling,” the Smithsonian told the Washington Examiner.

Historic presidency
A plaque next to the photo gives a brief summary of Trump’s historic “America First” presidency and its origins in “populist American sentiment.”
It mentions how Trump “significantly” restricted immigration, appointed a record number of judges, and brought the nation to record unemployment.
Also mentioned are Trump’s two impeachments, both of which failed, and the so-called Capitol “insurrection” shortly before his term ended, which confirmed Trump’s status as persona non grata to the American political establishment. “Nevertheless, Trump did not concede, and a mob of his supporters, who refused to accept the results, attacked the U.S. Capitol complex on January 6, 2021, when Congress was working to certify Biden’s win.”
The gallery, which has been closed since November because of COVID, will open on May 14.
