Border crisis? What border crisis? Kamala Harris was chosen last week to “lead” the Biden administration’s response to a self-inflicted immigration surge, but so far she’s MIA.
In fact, the vice president has no scheduled meetings on dealing with the crisis, the New York Post reported.
Harris is MIA on border crisis
On Friday, her press secretary, Symone Sanders, said that Harris, supposedly in charge of responding to the border crisis, is “not doing the border.”
How does that work? Maybe Harris knows something the rest of us don’t, but she wasn’t in any hurry to share her genius plans with the media this weekend either.
What is Harris doing, exactly, to solve this problem? Biden and Harris have been fixated on addressing “root causes” driving migration from deeply impoverished Central American nations. No word on when they’ll examine the “root cause” of Biden’s disastrously misguided policies.
“The Vice President is not doing the border,” Sanders said Friday.
“The President asked the vice president to take on the diplomatic efforts with Mexico and … the Northern Triangle to address the root causes of migration,” she added.
Biden and Harris drop the ball
Admittedly, there is a stroke of brilliance here. Instead of taking ownership of a self-inflicted problem, Biden and Harris are taking on problems America can’t actually solve, like poverty in Honduras. Then, when nothing changes, they can just blame Donald Trump. Rinse and repeat.
Sticking closely to the White House talking points, Harris says that Trump “dismantled” a system that Biden needs time to rebuild. Right.
“There are things that we need to do, especially since there was a system in place — previously, before the last administration — to allow us to process these kids in their country of origin. That was dismantled, we have to reconstruct it. It’s not going to happen overnight,” she told CBS on Wednesday.
This crisis may be serious, but it’s not mysterious. Migrants are rushing the border because the current administration is frivolous and won’t enforce the law. They don’t see Biden and Harris as serious people who care about and want to protect their country. Are they actually wrong for thinking that?
