Report: Durham’s Russia investigation is “eerily quiet”

Fox News has provided an update on Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the Russia collusion hoax.

According to sources that Fox has spoken with, Durham’s investigation is “ongoing,” but things have been “quiet.”

“Eerily quiet”

This is how one of the sources that Fox spoke with – a source “familiar with Durham’s investigation” – described it. Another source described it as “dead quiet,” and still another said that there has been “radio silence.”

Nonetheless, at least one of the sources said that he or she was “sure it is ongoing.”

“[Durham] is not the kind of guy to be idle,” one of the sources said. “He is a very diligent, hardworking, serious guy. He wouldn’t stay in that job a minute longer than he has to.”

“Where’s Durham?”

Fox News’s report here follows a recent statement made by former President Donald Trump in which he inquired about the whereabouts of Durham.

“Where’s Durham? Is he a living, breathing human being?” Trump asked. “Will there ever be a Durham report?”

What Trump was obviously getting at was the fact that it has been almost two years now since former Attorney General William Barr selected Durham to lead an investigation into the origins of the Russia collusion investigation, and yet, at least from outside appearances, Durham has gotten nowhere.

Thus far, the only indictment that Durham has made was of former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith. Clinesmith has pled guilty to altering a CIA email in order to get authorization for a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) wiretap of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. His punishment is a year of probation.

Some more Background

Durham, at President Joe Biden’s request, has resigned from his U.S. attorney post. But, he remains a special counsel, a designation given to him by Barr in order to protect the investigation, which means that his investigation is still officially ongoing.

After being named special counsel, Durham, in December 2020, expanded his team. At the time, Durham had completed his investigation of the CIA and was focused on the FBI, following “new and credible leads.”

Former Trump administration trade adviser Peter Navarro has recently predicted, in fact, “gaurantee[d],” that Durham will make at least three more indictments before his investigation comes to an end. Navarro also predicted members of the FBI being forced to leave the agency as a result of their involvement in the Russian collusion hoax.
