Report: Biden breaks 100-year record for longest stint in the White House without giving a solo presser

NPR reported in early February that during his first two weeks in office, President Joe Biden signed more executive orders than any U.S. president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. But as Breitbart reported this week, Biden has also managed to set another presidential record — and it’s likely not one his supporters want to talk about.

CNN’s Jake Tapper revealed Wednesday that over the last century, every president to take office has given a solo press conference in his first 33 days in office. But not Biden.

“An analysis of the past 100 years shows President Biden’s 15 most recent predecessors all held a formal solo press conference within 33 days of taking office,” Tapper wrote in a tweet, according to Breitbart. “Biden has not and it’s day 42.”

CNN crossing the aisle?

Tapper’s reporting didn’t go over well with many Twitter users, some of whom seemed to think that the famously liberal-leaning reporter was trying to help Republicans.

“You guys are starting to reach with Biden, aren’t you?” one commenter complained. “He’s a little busy cleaning up from the previous administration.”

“How many predecessors had to follow up a pandemic and an insurrection?” another Twitter user demanded, adding: “Bad data is bad, and worthless.”

Republicans ask: Where’s Biden?

But as one might expect, conservatives were less inclined to dismiss Tapper’s findings. Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs (R) tweeted: “Why is Joe Biden hiding from the American people?”

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel sounded a similar note, stating in a tweet of her own: “It’s been 42 days and Joe Biden still refuses to hold a press conference. Why is he so afraid of answering questions?”

Biden’s critics have long alleged that he avoided the media — and spent much of last year’s presidential campaign season in his Delaware home — to hide evidence of alleged mental decline.

“He’s struggling”

When news broke that Biden had largely put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of his foreign policy endeavors, it only fueled that speculative fire.

“I would expect the president, the commander-in-chief, to be leading our foreign policy, and right now, I’m not exactly sure that Joe Biden is in,” Fox News host Sean Hannity said on a recent episode of Fox News Primetime.

“It’s funny because the media was attacking me for saying that Joe looks weak and he looks frail and he’s struggling cognitively. Well, every day now, pretty much, when he speaks, when he’s allowed to speak, he’s struggling,” Hannity added of Biden, according to Fox. “It’s getting a little scary.”
