Democrats will push legislation on Republicans to show why ending filibuster is needed

Democrats will schedule Senate votes on bills that don’t have Republican support there in an effort to squeeze Republicans and show why in their view, the filibuster needs to go, Sen. Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said.

Democrats continue to push for an end to the filibuster as the House passes radical bills that then get stopped by the Senate because they can’t get even 10 Republican votes.

The filibuster is the only thing standing in the way of the complete remaking of the U.S., and the Democrats can sense how close they are to that remaking. They know it’s the filibuster that prevents them from getting the kind of stranglehold on the American government that Republicans will never be able to defeat.

What the filibuster is preventing right now

The filibuster is preventing fairness in the voting system from being destroyed by all kinds of voting rules changes that would make it impossible to prevent voter fraud.

It is preventing millions of new Democrat voters from being made through amnesty for illegal immigrants.

It is preventing Congress from destroying the concept of gender and letting biological males take over women’s sports under the guise of “equality.”

It is preventing the eradication of fossil fuels that could lead to more problems like those experienced in Texas during the recent ice storms there, not to mention massive increases in gas and oil prices until they can be eradicated.

It is preventing the erosion of gun rights, including the requirement to see a psychologist before you can buy a gun and needing to register your guns with the government so they know exactly where to go when they want to confiscate them.

The end result of this legislation would be a stripping of essential rights from the Constitution and the setting up of conditions that would leave little hope of Republicans regaining control to reverse these radical changes.

Hanging by a thread

The filibuster is hanging by a thread in the Senate, with two Democrats senators currently opposed to getting rid of it.

Neither Joe Manchin (WV) nor Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) shows any signs of wearing down in their opposition to the filibuster so far, but that hasn’t stopped the other Democrats and the press from an incessant drumbeat that has many people worried.

If the filibuster does fall, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has promised to revoke the unanimous consent that keeps the Senate moving along, and to slow things to a crawl that he promises will be worse for Biden’s agenda than the current gridlock.

And the clock is ticking; Republicans could very well win back the House and/or the Senate in 2022, ending any ability by the Democrats to unilaterally push through preferred legislation.
