On Thursday, President Joe Biden will be under pressure to quash doubts about his stamina once and for all at his very first solo press conference.
The delay has fueled attacks that Biden has lost a step and is not fit for the presidency. Just days before his big presser, Biden did not give a very promising sign when he took a “lid” right around lunch time on Monday.
Biden takes a lid at 1 p.m.
Essentially, Biden told journalists to shoo for the day. It’s not the first time he has done this.
For weeks — and going back to his presidential campaign, in fact — Biden has limited his exposure to the public and the media at seemingly every opportunity. Critics say there’s no mystery involved, that Biden is evidently senile and unable to manage his demanding role.
It has not been uncommon for reporters to be dismissed by staffers when they are able to ask Biden questions, and more recently, the president has left reporters in the dark about the ongoing border crisis.
Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado criticized Biden’s absence on Monday, saying he is “back in the basement” amidst the border emergency.
“The White House just called a lid at 1:13pm today. Biden is back in the basement, figuratively at least. Meanwhile, the country is in chaos and the border is coming apart at the seams,” she tweeted.
Biden to hold first presser Thursday
It’s not just Republicans who are calling on Biden to step it up. Even the corrupt liberal lapdog media is losing patience (or at least pretending) with Biden’s peek-a-boo presidency.
After facing pressure for weeks, Biden will finally address journalists on his own this Thursday. Until now, Biden’s staff have blamed the coronavirus pandemic for the delay.
“This president came in during a historic crisis, a pandemic like the country had not seen in decades and decades and an economic downturn that left tens of millions of people out of work,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said earlier this month.
Yep — he’s just that busy. So busy, in fact, he can’t be bothered to check in at the border that resembles a Third World country, thanks to his radical policies. He’ll get there “at some point,” he says.
Nice and non-committal. Starting to sense a pattern here….
