Trump plans new super PAC

Fox News reports that former President Donald Trump is getting ready to start a new super Political Action Committee (PAC).

According to the outlet, the decision was made by Trump’s political team last week during a meeting that was held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

Trump and his people, however, are not going to confirm anything until their plans are finalized.

Nonetheless, Jason Miller, Trump’s senior advisor recently said: “MAGA supporters and candidates supporting President Trump’s America First agenda are going to be impressed with the political operation being built out here. We expect formal announcements of the full team in the coming weeks, which will include some very talented operatives not yet named.”

Who’s going to run it?

Fox reports that, at the moment, it is looking like the new super PAC is going to be headed by Corey Lewandowski.

Lewandowski has been a long-time Trump advisor. He was Trump’s presidential campaign manager in 2016, and, more recently, he was a top adviser for Trump’s 2020 reelection.

It is also being reported that Linda McMahon, the well-known professional wrestling executive-turned politician, is also being considered to chair the new super PAC. McMahon chaired the America First Action super PAC during the 2020 election cycle.

Trump’s comeback

Former President Trump has been very quiet since leaving the White House on January 20th. But, that began to change following his second impeachment acquittal.

On Sunday, Trump will, in a sense, make his return to the political stage with a speech before the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). It will be his first major public appearance since leaving office.

Other reports indicate that Trump is working to make sure that every 2022 midterm race has a “MAGA-approved” candidate. And, there is even talk that Trump might start his own social media site, after being permanently banned by Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms.

Polls consistently indicate that Trump remains as popular as ever with his base. And, it also appears that he maintains the support of most of the Republicans in Congress.

What this all suggests is that Trump, much to the dismay of establishment Republicans in D.C., is the way forward for the Republican Party. All we are waiting for now is for Trump to announce his 2024 bid for the U.S. presidency. He expected to tease the possibility in Sunday’s speech.
