Fox’s Jedediah Bila says Republican challenge to Electoral College results sets ‘a very dangerous precedent’

Fox News star Jedediah Bila is freaking out over congressional Republicans’ plans to contest Democrat Joe Biden’s reported win over President Donald Trump in the Electoral College.

According to Breitbart, Bila said Sunday that Republicans’ efforts to overturn the election results are “really outrageous” and set “a very dangerous precedent.”

“Really outrageous”

The remarks came on the latest episode of Fox’s Fox & Friends Weekend. According to Breitbart, Bila was asked by host Howard Kurtz if “the media misjudged the seriousness and widespread support in the GOP for this effort, even though everybody says it’s doomed to fail?”

Among those planning to object to the Electoral College’s 306–232 decision in favor of Biden are Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), Fox reports. Their objections are set to come Wednesday, when Congress will meet in a joint session to count and certify the electoral votes.

“You know, I don’t think it’s widespread support [for the GOP’s efforts],” Bila told Kurtz, according to Breitbart. “To be honest, I actually find it really outrageous.”

In fact, a poll conducted by Politico and Morning Consult last month reported that 70% of Republicans do not believe the race “was free and fair.” But Bila maintains that “it’s not just [her] saying that.”

“Sixty cases”

“This has gone through the courts,” she told Fox & Friends, as Breitbart reported. “Sixty cases have been brought to the courts, oftentimes widespread voter fraud has not even been alleged in court because there simply isn’t evidence to support that.”

She went on: “If you look at the evidence that has been shown, it does not support that. There’s nothing that supports that this was rigged or stolen. And I think it’s a very dangerous precedent.”

“Elections have consequences that I think you have to accept,” Bila added.

“Our day in Congress”

Of course, not everyone seems willing to take Bila’s word for it. Later this week, Vice President Mike Pence is set to preside over Congress’ joint session to certify the electoral votes — and during a speech in Georgia on Monday, he pledged that the president’s supporters will finally have their voices heard then.

“We [have] all got our doubts about the last election,” Pence said, according to ABC News.

“And I want to assure you, I share the concerns of millions of Americans about voting irregularities,” he added. “I promise you, come this Wednesday, we’ll have our day in Congress.”
