‘You can overdo the masks’: In interview from hospital, Giuliani calls virus ‘curable’

President Donald Trump’s personal attorney is among the latest in his inner circle to announce a positive COVID-19 test result.

In a recent interview from his hospital room, however, Rudy Giuliani remained defiant and affirmed that he was in good spirits as he received treatment.

“This is a curable disease at this point”

The former New York City mayor called a local radio station on Tuesday to discuss his condition as well as take aim at what he believes are excessive measures meant to limit the virus’s spread.

“This is a curable disease at this point,” Giuliani said, signaling his belief that some mitigation efforts are being overblown by medical experts.

“You can overdo the masks,” he claimed. “I’d rather stay at risk than live in a basement all my life.”

“Improving significantly over the last 48 hours”

For his part, Giuliani’s son, Andrew, expressed gratitude for the prayers and encouragement his family has received since news of the diagnosis began to spread.

“Thank you for all the prayers for my Dad,” Andrew Guiliani tweeted. “He’s improved significantly over the last 48 hours and continues to get better. I can’t get him off the phone for the last day; the man never stops working!”

The elder Giuliani’s infection was first made public on Sunday afternoon in a tweet from the president, who praised his lawyer for being “by far the greatest mayor in the history of NYC.”

“I’m getting great care and feeling good”

Trump went on to laud his attorney for “working tirelessly exposing the most corrupt election (by far!) in the history of the USA.”

The president, who battled his own COVID-19 infection earlier this year, wished his close ally a speedy recovery.

Soon enough, Giuliani had also shared an update via tweet, writing: “Thank you to all my friends and followers for all the prayers and kind wishes. I’m getting great care and feeling good. Recovering quickly and keeping up with everything.”

Meanwhile, many of those on the other side of the aisle who continue to impose and endorse strict rules are being caught in apparent violation of their own orders.
