A conservative legal group has filed a lawsuit in Georgia alleging that more than 200,000 ballots were either counted illegally or improperly tossed out in this year’s election, a claim that, if true, could have a massive impact on the presidential race between incumbent Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden.
According to Just the News, the Thomas More Society’s Amistad Project claims that “well over 100,000 illegal votes [in Georgia] were improperly counted, while tens of thousands of legal votes were not counted.”
“Systemic failures”
In a lawsuit filed Wednesday, the group cited experts to argue that nearly 180,000 ballots were cast illegally, while some 44,000 legal ballots were discounted.
“The number of potentially fraudulent ballots we’ve identified in Georgia is over 15 times greater than the margin separating Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” Amistad Project Director Phill Kline claimed, according to a report from Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Julian Baron. “This finding undercuts the integrity of the general election.”
Joe Biden has been declared the winner of the presidential election by news outlets after seemingly winning a handful of battleground states by close margins, including Georgia. The Peach State certified Biden as the winner following a recount, but President Donald Trump and his allies have said that thousands of ballot signatures were not checked properly, among other problems. Biden won the state by fewer than 13,000 votes, Baron’s report noted.
Amistad, for its part, alleges that “systematic failures” in Georgia were enabled by millions of dollars from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, which were channeled to election officials through a group called the Center for Tech and Civic Life, according to the Tennessee Star.
The Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections received $6.3 million in this manner, the Star reported, something that Amistad contends is illegal, since only the Georgia secretary of State can accept non-taxpayer money for election administration.
“Discrepancies, fraud”
The Amistad Project has also filed lawsuits in other swing states, in coordination with Trump’s legal team, as part of an apparent multi-pronged effort to have Republican state legislatures appoint electors.
“Because of these irregularities, no one knows who really won Georgia’s presidential election. So, the election result should be nullified and the appointment of the electors should revert to the state legislature, as provided in Article II of the United States Constitution,” the Georgia lawsuit reads, according to The Epoch Times.
President Trump has refused to concede the White House race in the meantime, insisting that he will have been shown to be the winner once fraudulent ballots are tossed in swing states.
The president said Thursday that it would be “very hard” to concede in what he’s called a “rigged” election.
“We are looking at things that are so bad in Georgia, they don’t want to show us signatures. The reason they don’t want to show us signatures is very simple, because we will find thousands and thousands,” Trump said, according to a transcript from Rev. “It’s a very close race. It’s hair-thin. But we’ll find thousands and thousands of discrepancies, fraud.”
