In the weeks leading up to Election Day, new bombshell allegations swirled around the Biden family and a number of dubious international business connections.
Much of the speculation stemmed from the contents of a laptop that reportedly belonged to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s son, Hunter. Now, the computer repairman who turned over the data appears to have been driven into hiding.
Laptop contents renew controversy
The Wilmington, Delaware, shop owner has reportedly closed up shop after being harassed and threatened for his role in the scandal.
According to John Paul Mac Isaac, the younger Biden dropped off his computer in April 2019 for repairs but never returned to reclaim it.
He later contacted the FBI, according to reports, and officials seized the laptop in December. While it was still in his possession, however, Isaac said he made a copy of its contents and eventually shared the information with President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.
When the New York Post subsequently published a bombshell article containing a number of allegations based on those contents, critics of the former vice president raised new questions regarding a meeting he apparently had with an executive from the Ukrainian energy firm where his son held a lucrative board position.
For their part, Biden and his campaign surrogates dismissed the narrative as part of a “Russian disinformation” plot, leading to increased criticism of the computer repairman at the center of it all.
“The target of a smear campaign”
Now, Isaac has reportedly been forced to leave his town, according to a neighbor, and a sign on the door of his shop indicates it is now closed. In a statement to the Delaware News Journal, his lawyer declined to elaborate on Isaac’s whereabouts.
Attorney Brian Della Rocca did affirm his belief that his client will not end up embroiled in any legal or criminal matters as a result of his involvement. Nevertheless, he said he had been in touch with local FBI agents as well as Delaware Assistant U.S. Attorney Leslie Wolf.
Last month, Della Roca told Just the News that he believes Isaac “unwittingly became the target of a smear campaign by doing what he thought was right,” asserting that his client had been falsely identified as a “right-wing fanatic” and a “Russian hacker.”
In a statement just days before the election, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe dismissed Biden’s claims that the scandal was rooted in Russian disinformation.
“The intelligence community doesn’t believe that because there’s no intelligence that supports that,” he said at the time.
