In the final stretch of the 2020 election, President Trump’s approval ratings among likely Black voters is skyrocketing. According to a Rasmussen poll released Friday, President Trump’s job approval rating jumped almost 10% after the final 2020 presidential debate.
This is catastrophic news for Joe Biden and Democrats who believe they own the Black vote.
Biden is slipping
On the day of the final presidential debate, the daily approval rate was 37%. Ratings jumped by almost 10% the following day. Over the entire week from Monday to Friday, Trump gained 21%, from 25% on Monday to 46% on Friday.

Possible reasons for the jump in approval numbers likely include President Trump’s achievements in his first term, including the pre-COVID 19 unemployment rates, criminal justice reform, and Biden’s ineffective and destructive record over his long government career.
On the job front, President Trump’s administration implemented policies that increased employment nationwide and delivered the lowest unemployment rates in the Black and Hispanic communities in decades. He also touted his support and funding of historically Black colleges and universities.
“Nobody has done more for the black community than Donald Trump. And if you look, with the exception of Abraham Lincoln — possible exception, but the exception of Abraham Lincoln, nobody has done what I’ve done,” Trump declared.
The president also reminded America that Biden had used the term “predators” during a speech promoting what would become known as the 1994 Crime bill. Biden tried to distance himself from the bill, saying it was a mistake, but the effect of that bill is still being felt in the Black community.
President Trump also signed the bipartisan First Step Act in December 2018, a criminal justice reform bill, which reduced the sentences of almost 3,000 people almost immediately.
Obama/Biden administration failure
Most importantly, Trump successfully pointed out during the debate on national television that Biden had already had 8 years as vice-president but failed to do all the things he promised.
Trump said what Americans were thinking about Biden: “You were vice president. You keep talking about all these things you’re going to do and you’re going to do this. But you were there just a short time ago and you guys did nothing.”
“I ran because of Barack Obama, because you did a poor job. If I said you did a good job, I would have never run. I would’ve never run. I ran because of you. I’m looking at you now, you’re a politician. I ran because of you,” Trump continued.
Joe Biden and the Democrat party have acted as if the Black vote belongs to them for decades, but their entitlement may be catching up to them — and it’s likely too late to fix it now with less than 10 days to go until election day.
